EVALUATE

Answer briefly but substantially

1. Can the traditional classroom resources such as blackboard and chalk

considered as technology? Why?

Yes, they are always considered as technology simply because they are
created/invented by man to suffice the needs specifically in education as it is a
traditional method of instruction to facilitate and develop the learning process of
the students.
2. Technology is said to be a ‘’double-edged sword? Why?

It is due to the fact that while technology has aided society in its progress,
there are still considerable challenges that we may encounter as we use it. For
instance, computers and phones can give a vast range of resources and enhance their
learning capability. But this is not always necessarily true for other students because
some will misuse these technologies such as cheating, excessive use for online gaming
or cyberbullying which can be observed in the present.

3. Is ICT literacy about computer literacy only? Why?

No, because ICT literacy as a concept integrates not only computer literacy
but also it includes internet literacy and information literacy. Literacy with ICT is
about critical and creative thinking, digital citizenship and knowing how to use various
kinds of technology safely, healthily, responsibly and ethically to meet our demands.

4. Education technology can be viewed as a process and a product? How?

In the context of education technology, the technology will be viewed here as

a having both, a process (software) and a product (hardware) component where
process is the creative application of scientific knowledge to practical tasks of
teaching and learning. On the other hand, it is also a product as it is concerned with
the use of equipments, materials or devices such as media to distribute information.

5.Why is instructional design considered a system? What are the basic processes
of this system?

According to Newby (2000), instructional design is a system as it is an orderly

process with an internal logic, resulting in a coherent plan in which the components
of the plan closely matched with one another. It is considered as a five-step process
for curriculum development using the systems approach. The process includes the
following steps; (1) analyse system requirements; (2) define education or training
requirements; (3) develop objectiveness and tests; (4) plan, develop and validate
instruction; and (5) conduct and evaluate instruction.
