SECTION-II
(NUMERICAL VALUE TYPE)
This section contains 8 questions. Each question is numerical value. For each question, enter the correct
numerical value (in decimal notation, truncated/rounded-off to second decimal place.
(e.g. 6.25, 7.00, ‐0.33, ‐.30, 30.27, ‐127.30).
Marking scheme: +3 for correct answer , 0 if not attempted and 0 in all other cases.
7. In a cylindrical region having radius R, magnetic field varies with time as B = a +
bt, where a and b are positive constants. OPQ is a triangular loop made of wire
having resistance per unit length ' '. The current induced in the loop is found to be

8. A uniform but time varying magnetic field B C Kt , where K and C are positive
constants of appropriate dimensions and t is time (in seconds), is applied
perpendicular to the plane of a circular loop of radius ‘a’ and resistance R. Find the

B becomes zero.

9. In the arrangement shown, a gas is filled inside a balloon, which is placed in a
vertical magnetic field of intensity B. The initial volume of the balloon is V0 and the
gas is filled inside it so that its volume is increasing at the rate of a m3 / s. If there is
no leakage, find the emf induced (in V) at t 8 s, in a conducting ring, which is
elastic and placed horizontally along the largest circumference of balloon.
[Take: B 3T , V0 20 m3 , a 2m3 / s ]
10. A plane circular coil P of area A is placed in a uniform magnetic induction field B
such that the normal to the coil plane makes an angle of 30º with the direction of
the field. The coil is now rotated in the field by “wobbling” such that the normal
always makes angle 30º with the field during rotation, the angular velocity of
rotation being . Then the e.m.f. induced in the coil (in V) will be:
B 2T , A 2 m2 , 0.5 rad / s
12. Two parallel rails, 1 and 2, having negligible resistance are l = 10 cm apart. They
are connected by a 5 resistor. Two metal rods ab and cd can slide on the rails. The
rods have resistances 10 and 15 respectively. The rods are moved with constant
velocities of 4 m/s and 2 m/s parallel to the rails, as shown. A uniform magnetic
field B = 10 mT exists in the entire space perpendicular to the figure. Find the

13. A metal rod of resistance 20 is fixed along a diameter of a conducting ring
(resistance is negligible) of radius 0.1 m and lies on x-y plane. There is a magnetic
field B 50T kˆ. The ring rotates with an angular velocity 20 rad / s about its axis.
An external resistance of 10 is connected across the centre of the ring and rim.
