The given table compares the difference
purposes of residents who paid a visit to
the public library in a separate year 2006.
Overall, it is immediately apparent that the
number of newspapers readers and books
borrowers experienced two downward
trends whilst that of the internet for e -
mailing surfers underwent an upward
trend.

It is important to note that the readerships

of newpapers and magazines started at the
highest level of 4402 in the first quarter.
Nevertheless, it continued to drop steeply
and hit a trough of 3517 locals in the final
four months. Similarly, there was a two –
fold decrease in the rate of books
borrowers from 1695 to 890 throughout the
period.

In contrast, starting at only 780 initially, the

figure of internet for e – mailing users was
more than doubled to 1580 in quarter one.
Then, it grew remarkably, overtaking that of
others and hit a peak of 4010 in the third
quarter. Subsequently, using the internet
for e-mailing was the most prevalent at this
library.

In conclusion, it can be seen that during the

given time the use of internet for e-mailing
saw a sharp rise from being the least
popular in quarter one to the most principal
aim in order to communicate with locals in
the last four months.
