October 2014
This technical publication was up-issued to include
• the following hardware that supports the extended temperature solution:
— OTN Flex MOTR 1xXFP/8xSFP circuit pack (NTK532DE)
— OC-48/STM-16 SR1/I16.1 1310 nm XCT Enhanced SFP module
(NTTP03BD)
— GE/FC100/FC200 1000-BaseLX 1310 nm XCT Enhanced SFP
module (NTTP06CD)
This technical publication was also up-issued to include a new part number for
PTE2000-EEA (44RU extended equipment aperture, 600 mm wide x 300 mm
deep x 2125 mm high) rack.
• The new part number; NTRU6501SIF has been added to this release.
NTRU6501SIF is the same rack as NTRU6501 but is attached to a
cushioned pallet suitable for transport of the rack (which may have
equipment mounted to it) in a vertical position. The NTRU6501SIF part
number is used if any equipment will be mounted into the rack at one site
and then re-packaged for transport to another site. Racks without “SIF” in
the part number (i.e. NTRU6501) are shipped in crates that are suitable for
transport of racks that do not have equipment mounted to them. Order
NTRU6501SIF if you are also ordering hot or cold staging services from
Ciena.

span.

codes (UPC). The lowest security of the UPC is 1 and the highest is 5. The
five UPC security levels provide varying level of access for task execution.
UPSR
unidirectional path-switched ring
In the UPSR, the ring consists of two fibers on each span, transmitting traffic
in opposite directions, between adjacent nodes. Traffic entering the ring at any
node is transmitted in both directions around the ring until it reaches its exit
point. Each node on the ring is line terminating, such that the connection
across the ring is a path layer connection. At the exit point, the path layer
integrity information is examined for each of the two signals to select the best
quality signal. All of the selectors default to a particular direction, such that
under normal conditions, all traffic is routed around the ring in the same
direction.

Master index 5-
The master index guides the user of the 6500 Packet-Optical Platform (6500)
documentation to find information on a particular topic.
Example
Level 1 entry: performance monitoring
Level 2 entry: alarms
Level 3 entry: clearing
The master index lists this information in alphabetical order. It also lists some
terms under the abbreviation of that term. Each topic is referenced at the page
level in each document.
You can find the topic lamp test listed as the level one heading under the topic
letter L, followed by the alphabetical listing of any associated level two or three
headings. Then, you select one of the references and use the alphanumeric
code to find out which technical publication contains the information you need.
In the following example, the index lists the information you need on lamp test,
in the following format:

from Site Manager 310 2-4
The blue links in this index will open the applicable technical publication to the
selected content when clicked only if the index and technical publications are
in the same folder. Technical Publications will not open when the index links
are clicked directly from the www.ciena.com portal.
