Overview

With unemployment being on the decline in Germany and its job market being highly-regarded
worldwide, many foreign internationals head towards Germany to look for a job. More people
are flocking to Germany for their opportunities and benefits – everyone from college graduates
to workers close to retiring.

Finding a job and becoming a resident of Germany is possible, however, there are certain
procedures one must follow initially.

If you are interested in finding work in Germany, you may go to Germany on a Job Seeker Visa.
The Germany job seeker visa allows individuals to remain in Germany for a specific period of
time and search for employment.

Obtaining a Job Seeker Visa to Germany is not easy, you will have to be eligible and fulfil all the
requirements and go through the application process with a lot of precision.

Job Seeker Visa (JSV)

The job seeker visa for Germany is a Long-Term Residency Permit, which allows you to stay in
the country for six months and look for a job. If at the end of the six months you have found a
place of employment, you will be given the Germany work visa or a Germany work permit and
you will be allowed to work and live there.

Eligibility of applicants
There are several criteria that you need to fulfill to be eligible to apply for the Germany job
seeker visa:

 Hold a Bachelor/Master Degree from a university or an equivalent foreign degree

 Have a sufficient years experience in your related field of study
 Show proof that you have sufficient funds to cover your stay during the time you are in
Germany
  Have travel or medical insurance for your entire stay in Germany or until you get your
Work Permit

The Schengen Area

Germany is a signatory to the Schengen Agreement, which enables free circulation of residents
within Schengen Area countries. A visa granted by one of these countries is valid in the whole
Schengen area. Travelling within the Schengen Area is legally the same as travelling within
Germany.

There are 26 Schengen member states, including 4 outside the EU. As of present they are:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Iceland, Italy Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands,
Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Although you can leave the Schengen Area and come back in as many times as you need during
your 6-months visa validity, the total amount of time you can stay in the Schengen area cannot
exceed 90 days.

A visa granted by one of the Schengen countries is valid in all other member countries.

Important Points

 Candidate should be a valid passport holder with no criminal records.

 Candidate should bear the visa charges.

 IELTS is not mandatory but will be an added advantage if given, will have to give if
there is visa requirement.
