HOSPITAL SETTING

Objectives

Utilize the nursing leadership and management principles in the effective performance
of Team Nursing modality in the care of clients with physical and psychological
disturbances

1. What are your team nursing roles?

○ Team Member - actively contribute to the group in order to
complete tasks, meet goals or manage projects, make decisions
about work assignments and how to deal with problems that arise.

2. State your goal and objectives based on the Team Leader roles.
○ To direct and supervise the team, in providing client care
○ To act as a liaison between the clients and the healthcare
provider/physician.
○ To formulate a plan of care appropriate for the client
○ To transcribe and communicate orders and treatment changes to
team members, and solve problems of clients and/or team
members.
COMMUNITY SETTING

Objectives:

Utilize functional nursing as a modality in the management of clients in the community

setting

1. Describe the role of the team leader in the management of clients in the
community.
○ An effective team leader coaches members on achieving goals and
developing necessary skills that get results for the client.
○ ​It is also the responsibility of the team leader to identify the client’s health
needs and determine areas of opportunity and the appropriate steps to
improve on them.
○ Evaluating goals and determining how the team will measure success can
prevent miscommunication.

2. State your goal and objectives based on the team leader role.
○ Develop a strategy the team will use to reach its goal
○ Provide any training that team members need
○ Communicate clear instructions to team members
○ Be able to listen to team members' feedback
○ Monitor team members' participation to ensure the training they are being
provided is being put into use, and also to see if any additional training is
needed
○ Manage the flow of day-to-day operations
○ Create reports to update the company on the team's progress
○ Distribute reports to the appropriate personnel
