LESSON 4
Learners write down the verbs and use them in sentences.

LESSON 5
Present continuous tense:
 We add “ing” to the verbs in this tense, e.g. read – reading
 Some verbs double the last letters before adding ‘ing’ e.g. dig – digging, clap –
clapping
 Other verbs the last letter is removed to add ‘ing’ e.g. write – writing, give – giving.
 We use helping verbs is or are in the present continuous tense.
*Though discussion, a list of verbs will be made and learners will write them in present
continuous tense.

Activity:
Changing sentences from present simple to present continuous tense.
Examples:
-He gives a book to a friend.
He is giving a book to a friend. -We go to school
-They help their parents. -She reads story books
They are helping their parents. -They clean the class.

LESSON 6
Use the verb in brackets to complete the sentence correctly.

LESSON 7
Past simple tense
 This deals with things which happened in the past e.g. last week, yesterday, last month,
last year, this morning.
 Some verbs double the last letter before adding ‘ed’ for example:
Clap - clapped mop - mopped drop – dropped
 Some verbs do not change in the past tense, for example:
Cut – cut read – read put – put shut – shut

Past continuous tense
Using “was” and “were”.

LESSON 9
Using while and when.
If “when” begins a sentence, a comma is used but if it is put in the middle, no comma is
used.

-He hurt himself when he was playing football.
