PAINT
Paints are thin coatings applied to surfaces in a liquid form. Paint dries and becomes flexible solids. They
have many uses, the protection of the surface from sunlight, dampness, dust, abrasion, and weathering.
They provide easily cleanable surfaces that help keep the substrates clean and tidy.

Types of Wall Paint and Finishes:-


Flat/Matte: Flat paints (also called matte paints) have the least amount of shine and durability. They
provide the most coverage of any other paint and require fewer coats to cover imperfections like nail
holes.

Price:- per Kg/Ltr (Avg.) :- Rs 550/-

Eggshell: Eggshell finishes are a very popular paint finish. They’re slightly more lustrous than flat
paints (with the delicate low sheen of an eggshell), they still cover imperfections, and they’re more
durable than flat finishes (though still not quite as durable as satin or gloss finishes).

Satin: Satin finishes are the most common interior paint finish. They have a velvety sheen and are
easier to clean than flat and eggshell paints, which makes them a great choice for high -traffic areas like
kitchens, playrooms, family rooms, bathrooms, and laundry rooms.

Semi-gloss: Semi-gloss paints are shiny and reflective. They’re extremely durable and mildew-
resistant, so they’re best used in rooms that get a lot of wear and tear or moisture, like kids’ rooms,
kitchens, and bathrooms.

High-gloss: High-gloss paints are the shiniest paint finish of the bunch. They’re also the most durable
and washable, so they can handle daily scrubbing. Consider this family of paint for doors, trim, and
cabinetry.

Enamel paint :- It is usually used to coat metallic and wooden finishes/surfaces. It has a hard, glossy and

WALLPAPER
Wallpapers are ornamental and utilitarian covering for walls made from long sheets of paper that have
been stenciled, painted, or printed with abstract or narrative designs. The most classic use of wallpaper
is to cover all the walls in a space. The key to making it work is to erase the memories of the garish patterns
of the 1970s and the delicate florals of the 1980s and think in terms of contemporary colors, patterns, and
styles.

Types of Wallpapers:-
Lining Paper: The main purpose of lining paper is to cover minor imperfections on a surface before
painting it or to hide a strong colour previously applied to walls or ceilings before a lighter colour wallpaper
or paint is to be applied.

Price: Rs. 30 to 120/- per Sq Ft

Traditional Wallpaper: They are very affordable and accessible, can be literary found in any design
store. However, the colours fade away in the sun, and they are not washable.

Price: Rs. 50 to 150/- per Sq Ft


Vinyl Wallpaper: They consist of a backing layer, paper or fibre, and a plastic upper coating. Their
practical day to day advantages are obvious: they are washable, light- resistant, relatively cheap and
extremely durable which makes them the ideal candidate of frequently used rooms.

Price: Rs. 60 to 230/- per Sq Ft

Embossed Wallpaper: Textured and embossed wallpapers add depth and an interesting contrast to
plain walls. The textures can range from delicate and soft fabric inspired imprints through to dramatic
geometrics.

Liquid Wallpaper: They consist of cellulose and cotton fibre. Have to be applied in a liquid form with the
help of a special pallet. Such wallpaper have a high level from the clutch surface that allows their use even in
rooms with uneven walls, defects and cracks on the surface.
Price: Rs. 2200/- per roll average

Non-Woven wallpaper: The non woven wallpapers are the latest trend in decorating. Non-wovens are
made of a special blend of natural and synthetic fibres, making them washable and breathable.

Price: Rs. 160/- per Sq Ft

Fibreglass Wallpaper: As name suggests they are made of glass fibres woven and bonded together to
form a sheet material. Due to the way wallpaper is produced they are incredibly strong and provide a great
reinforcement to any wall or ceiling. Made from natural nontoxic materials like quartz, soda, lime and
dolomite they are considered to be a green product too.

Price: Rs. 10 to 50/- per Sq Ft


Bamboo Wallpaper: Made of bamboo, an environmentally friendly natural product. They do not change
the colour for a long period of time. Because bamboo is a “natural” material, it can be affected by high
moisture and isn’t very cleanable.

Price: Rs. 50 to 150/- per Sq Ft

Advantages of using Wallpaper:-


 Wallpaper is durable, and can last over 15 years making it very cost effective.
 When wallpaper has been hung properly it can last three times longer than paint.
 If you have imperfect walls, high quality wallpaper can hide surface imperfections.
 Paint comes in a huge range of colours, however there is a limited spectrum of finishes, either
matte or gloss. Wallpaper comes in a variety of designs with a large selection of textures and
effects. Beads, flock, metallic, emboss and other textures.

FABRIC
According to modern interior designing concept some fabrics are widely chosen by interior decorators for
making interior decoration and these fabrics are silk, chiffon, organza, and stretch fabrics.

Types of Fabric:-
Silk: Silk is a classy fabric option. It is soft and flowy. You may find silk used in bed linen, curtains and
upholstery. However, it is very delicate and wrinkles quickly. It can also get stained easily and requires a lot
of care.

Price: Rs. 50 to 1500/- per meter

Rayon: In terms of texture, rayon is similar to silk. It is smooth and soft, but it is sturdier than silk. It is also
commonly used in curtains and upholstery.

Cotton: Cotton is an inexpensive, easy-to-obtain fabric that can be used for bed linens, upholstery,
curtains, etc. It is quite versatile but is labelled as less elegant-looking than silk. Cotton blends are more
commonly used for interiors as pure cotton may not be sturdy enough.

Polyester: This is a very sturdy material that is often used for interior decoration. Polyester is easy to use,
long-lasting and resistant to stains.

Nylon: Nylon is also sturdy and durable. It is very commonly used for upholstery and curtain work.
Price: Rs. 25 to 600/- per meter

Wool: Like silk, wool is a fabulous-looking material that adds grace and class to a home. You can get
beautiful woollen rugs, that not only feel soft but also look like a million dollars.

Velvet: A popular type of fabric now used mostly for velvet sheets, curtains, carpets, sofa covers or any
other kind of home decor.

Wood Panelling
It is a decorative treatment of walls, ceilings, doors, and furniture consisting of a series of wide, thin sheets
of wood, called panels, framed together by narrower, thicker strips of wood. The latter are called styles
(the external vertical strips), muntins (the internal vertical strips), and rails (the horizontal strips).

Types of Wood Panelling :-


Shiplap: This style of paneling features horizontally-running grooved boards that are positioned
tightly together to form a weatherproof seal.

Board And Batten: The word “batten” refers to the piece of molding that’s placed over the joint
between the board. It adds a touch of sophistication to any room. As with all wall paneling , find

Plank Wall: With wooden planks, you can easily create a texture-rich, aesthetically-pleasing space.
Use reclaimed wood, new wood, or even wood that’s been made to look vintage. Install the planks
horizontally, vertically, or even in another type of pattern like herringbone or diagonal.

Price: Rs. 150/- per sq ft average

Tongue And Groove: The look is clean and cohesive. Tongue and groove is an excellent way to
keep dirt and dust out. A downside of using tongue and groove wall paneling is the time required for
installation.

Flat Panels: Flat panels produce very clean lines and an unmistakable polished look. The flat panel
style originated in the 19th century and has grown in popularity over the years. It’s a simpler

cap molding, cove molding, top rail, stile, raised panel, and bottom rail.

MOLDING

Molding, or moulding is a strip of material with various profiles used to cover transitions between surfaces
or for decoration. It is traditionally made from solid milled wood, plaster, plastic or reformed wood.
Analysis of shape is one way to classify mouldings.

Types of Molding:-
Skirting: Typically employed where the floor meets the wall, this type of molding is both aesthetically
pleasing and functional.

Chair Rails: Quite like skirting, chair rails are also installed for functional purposes- this time cutting
through the wall. The benefit of this type of molding is in the name– chair rails protect walls from furniture
such as chairs sweeping back.
Crown Molding: This type of molding sits at the joint where the ceiling and walls meet. It is a great

PLASTER
Plaster is a building material used for the protective or decorative coating of walls and ceilings and for
moulding and casting decorative elements. In English, "plaster" usually means a material used for the
interiors of buildings, while "render" commonly refers to external applications.

Price: cost for 1 square foot is around 24 to 31 Rs


Types of Plaster :-
Pebble Dash Plaster Finish: It is a Plaster Finish in which small pebbles or crushed stones of suitable
size (generally varying from 10 to 20 mm) are thrown onto a freshly applied final coat of mortar and left
exposed.

Scrapped Plaster Finish: In many homes to create a good blend of smooth and rough
surfaces, a scrapped plaster finish is created. It is a plaster in which the final coat, after being leveled and
allowed to stiffen for a few hours, is scrapped with a steel straight edge old saw blade or other such tools
to remove the surface skin.
Textured Plaster Finish: A textured plaster finish can be typically found on boundary walls or part of
a feature wall to create a textured interior décor installation.

Stucco Plaster Finish: Stucco plaster finish belongs to a type of plaster that provides a superior finish.
This plaster can be applied for inside as well as outside surfaces.
Exposed Aggregate Plaster Finish: White and colored marble chips shall be of 6 mm to 12 mm size
shall be used which obtained from crushing hard marble stone.

Smooth Coat Finish: This type of plaster finishing is smooth in nature with leveled surface. The
proportion of 1:3 is used for Sand and cement for making mortar used in finishing.
Sand Finish Plaster: This plaster finishing is usually completed in 2 coats of mortar mix.
The ratio of cement sand is kept 1:4 in mortar for the first layer with 12mm thickness.

Rough Plaster: Rough finishing of plaster requires a Cement Sand Aggregate ratio of 1:1:3 for finishing
work, having a coarse aggregate size of 3mm to 12 mm.

TYPES OF CEMENT WALL CLADDING:
Cement textured finish:

plaster with a trowel and after that it is colored with paint.
Cement plastered finish:
It is prepared in the form of mortar with cement, sand and water in proper proportions and applied on
masonry manually to achieve a smooth finish or sand face finish.

 Fiber Cement sheets are very strong and durable.

MARBLE POWDER FINISH
