In the first graph we see a comparison between the consumption of vegetables and fruit in Britain
between 1974 and 2005.

The rate of consumption of fruit seemed to have a slight increase from 1974 to about 1987 and then
started to decline. This could have happened because of the raise of the prices for vegetables in Britain.
The level of consumption of fruit, however, seemed to have been rising rapidly for the entire period. I
suppose that over time fruit had been becoming more affordable, so it caught up with the consumption
of the vegetables and surpassed it. It is noteworthy that the lines are not completely straight, which
means that there were short periods of steep rises and drops of the rates.

To conclude, the level of consumption of vegetables had been more stable comparing to that of fruit,
and they came to almost equal figures by the year of 2004.

B:

In the second graph we see a comparison between males and females in cigarette smoking in Britain
between 1974 and 2007.

As we can see from the graph, the rate of smoking was higher for men in 1974. Then statistics for both
males and females started to decline significantly. The rate of smoking for males became very close to
that of the females by 1994, when there was a slight rise for both genders. Another remarkable point is
that this increase lasted for the same amount of time for both males and females, and after that both
rates started to go down again. I believe that this steady decline of smoking levels is explained by the
promotion of a healthy lifestyle in Britain.

To conclude, there used to be a lot more smoking men than women in 1974, but over the time the
statistics went down for both genders, and they are approximately on the same level now.

Essay: Many people choose adventurous holidays nowadays. What are the advantages and
disadvantages of this choice?

A lot of people nowadays choose to spend their holidays in an adventurous way. In this essay I am going
to discuss what might be the advantages and disadvantages of that.

It seems to me that the main advantage of people choosing adventurous holidays is that they make a
choice in favour of new experiences. We need adventures in order to feel more content with our lives
and have new memories to share with other people. Otherwise we might start to feel like we are
wasting our time. For example, a lot of things happen while travelling, and we like these experiences
whether they are good or bad, because they are out of ordinary and they make our lives more
interesting.

I suppose that one of the disadvantages could be that some people mistaken dangerous for
adventurous. While there is nothing wrong with being interested in extreme sports and similar activities,
one should be very cautious when taking such risks. Moreover, it is best to do extreme sports with other
people, who are well-trained and know what to do in case of emergency. Mountaineering, for example,
is likely to bring you a lot of amazing experiences. However, you cannot do it right away, since it requires
practice and certain skills, so it might not be the best option for holidays if you are not good enough at
it.

To conclude, adventurous holidays are necessary for people to be happy with their lives, but they have
to be able to tell dangerous apart from adventurous when choosing activities.
