THE EFFECT
The Effect are a group of passionate Psychology professionals from various backgrounds including

organisational, clinical and health that strive to make a difference in the working world. We combine our

knowledge and skills in the field of Psychology and business to get the best results for our clients.

Why a Psychology type coach?


Coaching is defined as a 'process of equipping people with the tools, knowledge and opportunities they

need to develop themselves and become more effective' (Peterson & Hicks, 1995). In our business, our

coaches are trained extensively in the field of Psychology. Coaching psychology can be understood as

being the systematic application of behavioral science to the enhancement of life experience, work

performance and well-being for individuals, groups and organisations (Grant, 2006).

Benefits of using a coaching psychologist are:

Accountability - we are accountable to the New Zealand Psychologist’s Board (NZPB) making sure

we are regulated and competent.

Confidentiality and Ethics – We work to a code of ethics of which includes protecting our client’s

confidentiality

Continuing competence – We are required to to keep records of our development and undertake

supervision

Evidence based practice – We are trained in using proven research based methods of intervention

Cultural competence -We are required to work safely and effectively with cultures different to our

own

Reflective practice – We are constantly reflective of our own practice to ensure that we are safe

practitioners.

THE EFFECT
WHAT CAN THE COACHEE EXPECT?
The coachee can expect a safe and confidential space where they will be empowered to reach their goals.

This includes:

A 60-90-minute session

A confidentiality and consent form

Take home work in the form of articles, podcasts, exercises and videos

Potential psychometrics and debrief

Email and phone contact with the coach throughout the month (Not available in stand alone coaching)

Coaching contracts provide additional support through extended access

COACHING ENGAGEMENT PROCESS

Step One – Leader to put in a development request

Step Two – The request is assessed to ascertain the suitability of coaching

Step Three -A brief outlining coaching goals provided to The Effect

Step Four – An appropriate coach identified

Step Five – A consult between the coach and coachee to establish fit

Step Six – The Effect to advise coaching contract length

Step Seven – A purchase order provided to The Effect

Step Eight – Coaching commences

Step Nine – Coaching evaluation conducted at the end of the coaching contract
