CHAPTER I
PRELIMINARY
1. Introduction
If you meet a lot of people and that person is a citizen of another country you will get a lot
of things. And it's even better when you meet many people who are citizens of other
countries. You can communicate well with them, you will get more things, such as
knowledge, new innovations, conditions, and interesting information from various
countries. That's all if you can speak English well.
Language plays an important role in human life. One seeks to acquire, learn and use
language as a means of communication, and at the same time as a social symbol of
humanity. By using language, a person can make statements, convey facts and knowledge,
explain or report something, and maintain social relations between language users. This
shows that by using language, people can express their ideas, feelings, information etc.
through communication.
In developing countries like Indonesia, Britain has a vital role in all aspects of life, especially
in science and technology. In addition, it can be used to develop relationships in
international forums, to read English books (especially for students from elementary schools
to colleges / universities), to strengthen relations between nations in the world, etc. As
students, we learn English. intended to acquire a variety of knowledge, to understand and
understand learning textbooks in English, to gain knowledge and skills, and to be ready for
university entry, as one of the test requirements for senior high school students (SMA), etc.
Seeing the important role above English , that is why English is so important to understand
and master by everyone around the world since the previous year.
2. Research Question
The question is :
The first wave of invasion was the invasion of speakers of the Scandinavian branch of the
German language family. They conquered and inhabited parts of Britain in the 8th and 9th
centuries.
Then this second wave of invasion was the Normans in the 11th century who spoke a dialect
of French. These two invasions resulted in English being "mixed up" to some degree
(although it never became a literal mixed language).
Living together with members of the Scandinavian ethnic group ultimately created a
grammatical simplification and an enrichment of the Anglo-English core of the English
language.
The large number of sectors that use English as the language of instruction makes
this language an important language in all aspects. By knowing and mastering
English, it will increase your values, especially when continuing your education and
looking for work. Mastering English also increases your chances of getting a good
job at a multinational company in your country or getting a job abroad.
Official Language of 53 Countries
For those of you who like traveling or traveling, learning, knowing and
understanding English is an obligation for you. Especially if you enjoy
traveling to overseas destinations or destinations such as America or Europe.
For example, one of the international media BBC or Reuters, although they
have several platforms that adapt to the language of a particular country,
these two media still use English as the main language. Also, by mastering

English is quite easy and fast to learn. Compared to other languages that use
their own letters such as Arabic, Korean or Mandarin, learning English is still
relatively easy.

CHAPTER III
CONCLUSION
What we have seen in this course is that English is and always is a diverse entity. This has
changed dramatically over the centuries since it first arrived on the coast of England from
northern Europe, and this change means that the language spoken at that time is almost
incomprehensible to us today. As language has spread beyond England, it is constantly
changing, and changing in different ways in different contexts. It has diversified to such an
extent that some scholars argue that it is no longer accurate to speak of an 'English'; that there
are many different English languages around the world today.
At the same time, however, English exists in the world today as a means of international
communication - as a way for people from different social groups to communicate with each
other - and to fulfill this function, the variety of languages needs to be limited to some extent.
That is, if the language becomes too diverse, it will not still be understood by different social
groups. So we have two drives at work that seem incompatible, or maybe even contradictory,
and the question we face is how to make them consistent, since they both become part of the
existence of one entity we call 'British'. This is one of the central problems in the study of
English today - and it is a very modern one because it arises as a direct result of the
unprecedented position that English has occupied in the world: as a language of global scope
involved in history and existence. today's society around the world. So what's wrong with us
mastering English, even if we learn English we can get a lot of benefits and good for the future.
So let's learn English.
