Background:
HP Inc. is into the business of personal computing and printing systems globally. They have their operations in 170+ countries across APJ, EMEA and in
Americas. Recently the organization has undertaken digital transformation across the Services Supply chain(SSC) which ships more than 9M parts, processes
650k whole unit repair events globally per year through an extensive network of outsourcing partners. Demand Planning, which is part of SSC, is chartered to
provide a forecast at a part level for the planning horizon of rolling 6-months, which is carried on a monthly basis. Better forecast accuracy will improve parts
availability, reduce inventory costs and improve customer satisfaction. The existing framework has competencies of enabling forecasting through traditional,
machine learning algorithms superimposed with human intelligence to predict future demand.
Current Scenario:
•Based on historical demand, failure rate and few data elements given below we run set of algorithms to get a scientific forecast. Business inputs are incorporated to this system
generated forecast, which are arrived through interactions with internal stakeholders like Quality, Network planning and Engineering teams to bring additional inputs from the field in
advance which can aid in the planning process.
Challenges:
What we expect:
•Planning team's vision is to move from a reactive approach to a proactive approach of planning by leveraging the proactive demand signals into the forecast process.
•Therefore, the participating team should develop strategy, system/process to achieve this vision.
