REFLECTION PAPER ON LOCATING PRODUCT AND SERVICE FACILITIES

Locating facilities is the process of identifying the best geographic location for the

services or production facilities of the firm. Since accessibility is one of the considerations of the

customers whether to buy or not to buy the product, the location should also be one of the

strategies that the company would think through. Facilities location finds the best geographic

locations for the different elements in the supply chain. The right location plays a huge role in

attracting potential customers.

Furthermore, right location provides adequate access to customers, suppliers, skilled

labors, etc. Location also creates a brand image, easy access is a huge advantage in every

businesses. As your business is within reach and with ease of visibility, great number of potential

buyers or customers can be expected and this means that a great possible amount can be

generated thereof. Consistent traffic is the key to generate sales and profits for the company.

Right location ensures success of the organization in current global environment. There

are researches conducted that that the location of a business is one of the most important factors

that contributes to a company’s success. It plays a vital role in the way a business is perceived by

the customers. It also attracts potential employees to be part of the organization that might be of

great hep in achieving a firm’s goals.

Location should part of the market research that the company will do. It should provide

convenience to customers for them to gain loyalty and patronize products or services that they

will be offering. It is important that there is ease of access as people nowadays don’t want to

spend so much of their time just to look for desired product, those that can be easily purchased is

for sure, the most preferred among others.
