Yes, I have. It is about how to have a plan to achieve your goals. It provides the steps
to achieve the organization’s mission and objectives at a given time and at the same
time provides a contingency plan in case of failure.

Question 2

Research and explain the following 4 legislations relating your response to operational
planning:

 Privacy Act 1988 (Cwlth)


It exists to protect the privacy of citizens by ensuring that personal information is
only collected when necessary, stored securely and not misused by organizations.
 Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld)
It exists to ensure that all Australians seeking employment or performing work are

It ensures that appropriate attention and protection is given to all records, and that
the evidence and information they contain can be retrieved efficiently and
effectively, using standard practices and procedures.

Explain the following approaches to creating performance indicators:

1. Strategic approach
It is considered a top-down approach because it begins with consideration of top-level
organizational vision.

2. Operational approach
It is considered a bottom-up approach using the key operational activities to determine
how to indicate success.

3. Leading indicators
They focus on results in the future performance, normally measuring intermediate
processes and activities.

4. Lagging indicators
They focus on results at the end of a time period, normally characterizing historical or
past performance.

What is a Gantt Chart? How could you use it?


A Gantt Chart is a kind of bar chart that displays the relationship between the steps in a
project. It involves preparation of a basic action plan including steps required and time

estimates, then list the steps down the left side of the chart with dates shown along the
bottom.

Question 5

What is a Pert diagram? How could you use it?


It is a graphical representation, which shows the relationship between various steps in a
project, like the Gantt chart. It involves preparation of a basic action plan and includes
steps required and time estimates, with a chain of linked circles. Each circle represents
a milestone in your project. The time to complete each step is written on the line leading
to the next circle.

Question 6

What is contingency planning?


It is a planned strategy with a series of procedures, which enables the business to have
an alternative solution (called Plan B) to allow quick restoration of services for any
eventuality that could stop the service.
