In what other ways can the Filipino youth of today

show their patriotism to their country?

There are many ways can Filipino youth of today can show their patriotism to their country.
Especially that foreign influence is rampant in today’s generation. Me and my little siblings are
actually fond to foreign artist. However, this doesn’t make us less Filipino. I define patriotism as
an act of showing his/her love to its nation. These acts of patriotism change over time. During
Spanish Colonization, patriotism is shown through participation in Katipunan. This is somehow
not feasible anymore because we already had the freedom our ancestors are fighting for.

Patriotism today can take in many forms. It varies from simple to complex. For those talented
individuals, they can showcase their patriotism using their talent featuring our country’s history
and tradition. Through their works, it will somehow remind us where we start as Filipinos and
preserve those culture. Artists showing their patriotism has great reception from our very own
people and is widely recognized by Filipinos around the world. One example is the work of one
engineer for his initiative in covering the so-called “Pambansang Photo-bomber” of Rizal’s
Monument in Luneta. He was greatly praised for showing his love to our National Hero by
preserving the sanctity of the place.

On the other hand, there’s no excuse for common people who doesn’t have much talent in
showing their patriotism to the country. We are already practiced in elementary in respecting the
flag all throughout the Flag Ceremony. This simple act of respect also shows how we appreciate
what our heroes have done for our country. By doing so, you will not just show your love to our
heroes but the country as well.
