All workers will attend daily safety induction session before starting work
All workers should put on the appropriate Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) such as cover-all, Helmet and
safety boots.
Workers working on the laying of conduits on the slab should put on hand gloves to avoid being injured by the
metal reinforcements.
All drilling, chiseling and cutting of walls should be done by personnel wearing safety goggles.
All concrete vibration by the civil contractor should not be done directly on top of electrical conduits and boxes.
All Company staff should be wearing safety boots, Safety Helmets, and protective eye googles before entering
the site.

E- Responsibilities

The Project Manager is over all responsible for planning, control, monitoring and
executing the project in accordance with the contract documents, specifications, and Local Authority
regulations.

Site Electrical Engineer is responsible to check and ensure the conformity of electrical installations with project
Standards and Local Authority regulations. He is also responsible to ensure that the inspection and testing are
done as per approved quality control procedure/documents.

The Project Engineer is responsible to carry out the work as per approved shop drawings and method
statements. He is also responsible for the inspection and testing of electrical installations as per approved
inspection and test plan. He is directly responsible for the timely executions of all aspect of work in coordination
with the other trades involved in the project.

Safety officer is responsible for the health and safety aspects on site as per the main contractor and company
safety regulations.

F- Installation Instructions
1. Close coordination should be done with the site structural engineer from the beginning till the end of the
activity.
2. Ensure availability of the approved earthing shop-drawings.
3. Ensure that all the material needed is as per approved material submittals.
4. Make sure that the path of the earthing cable buried underground is free from any obstruction and that
the excavated area is free from big stones or dirt that may damage the cable during backfilling.
5. Lay the 120mm2 main earth loop bare copper cable as per the approved shop-drawing.
6. Lay pair 70mm2 one by one bare copper cable that links the earth bar to the main earth loop.
7. Protect the earthing cables rising from underground to above to the earth bar from any damage by
putting them inside 50mm flexible pipe
8. Avoid sharp bends during cable lying.
9. Start installing the earth rod as per the manufacturer recommendation. Make sure to use earthing stud
on the top of the earth bar to avoid any damage to the rod during using the hammer as per supplier
recommendation
10. The final finish floor level of the slab should be clear to know at which level the earthing rod should stop
in-order for the rod not to be higher than the slab or very deep. The top of the rod should be around
10cm under the finish floor level.
11. In case any exothermic welding needed, technician using proper material as specified in the approved
material submittal shall perform this activity under direct supervision from site supervisor / Engineer and
using the manufacturer recommendation.
12. Monitor the backfilling of the area having the buried earth cable to avoid any damage to it.
13. Make sure that you are installing 50mm sleeves inside the structure for the lightning tape 30x3mm
coming from the roof and level 12 to the basement floor to link it to the earthing loop.
14. All the lightning tape coming from the roof or level 12 will be earthed using triangular earthing with
separation of 6m as it is described in the detail in the approved shop-drawings.
15. Some earth pit will not be linked to the earth loop. It is just testing earth pit to measure the earth
resistance when needed.
16. The installation of the earth pit should start during the screeding activity. The earth pit should flush with
the finish floor level. It should be fixed properly as manufacturer recommendations and to be monitored
during screeding to avoid any damage or problem in the level of the earth pit.
17. Earth pit should be cleaned from inside prior to connect the cable / tape using proper fittings as per
approved material submittal
18. Before starting the installation of the earth bars, make sure that the plastering work is completely
finished in the area and there is no water on the walls and the conduits are clean.
19. Terminate the earthing cables to the twin link earth bar using compression type terminal lugs avoiding
any sharp bend to the earthing cable.

F- Installation Instructions- Continuation

20. Connect the earthing cables going to the earth loop at the 2 edges of the twin link busbar that is used to
isolate the internal earthing in the building with the main earth loop of the building for testing purposes.
21. The earthbars dedicated to the low current system, switchgear, medical imaging is not connected to the
main earthloop. Each one will be connected separately via two earthing cable 70mm to a triangular
earthing with a separation of 6 meters between each pit and the other.
22. After completing the earth loop installation, measure the earthing resistance using earth resistance
tester. It should less than 5 ohm. Make sure you isolate the internal earthing inside the building during
testing to avoid any damge for the equipments in the building by opening the disconnecting link before
starting the test and close immediately after the test.
23. Metal works under our scope (cable tray, mechanical equipment, lighting fixture, wiring devices, etc)
should be connected to the earthing system.
24. Submit a request for inspection and obtain approval from consultant/ client.

G- House Keeping & Logistics

At the close of each working day, all material surpluses to requirements, and general items of scrap or debris,
will be removed from the work-face in order to maintain a clear and clean working environment.

Storage of all materials, plant, equipment, tools etc is not to impede access or egress to and from work areas.
