Dear

Parents and Guardians,

Our school is implementing a program called i-Ready® Diagnostic & Instruction, an innovative adaptive assessment
and engaging personalized instruction program for reading and math. i-Ready will help me assess the needs of
your child while monitoring their progress throughout the school year. It will also provide your child with an
individualized Online Instruction based on their individual skill level within the i-Ready program.

The first step with i-Ready is a diagnostic assessment of the students’ present aptitude in both
mathematics and reading. Please use the log-in information below to begin taking the assessment in both
reading and mathematics:

1. Go to https://login.i-ready.com/
2. Username: FirstNameBirthDate, i.e. StaciNovak0621
3. Password: a3ed
Some things to know:

1. The assessment may take anywhere from 40 minutes to 70 minutes, depending on how well the
student does. If the student needs to stop for any reason, the assessment picks up wherever the student
leaves off.

2. It may take 2–4 sittings to complete the assessment. The assessment may be started, stopped, and restarted
as needed within a 21-day period we call a “testing window.”

3. Each assessment item that a student sees is individualized based on their answer to a previous question.
This is what makes the assessment an “adaptive” one. For example, a series of correct answers will result in
slightly harder questions, while a series of answers that are incorrect will yield slightly easier questions.

4. Immediately following the assessment, i-Ready will place your child into Online Instruction to support his
or her progress in mastering essential skills in reading and math.

Preparing your child for the i-Ready assessment:

● Remind your child that i-Ready does not affect their grade; it is a tool that helps us understand his/her
strengths as well as areas that need some

● Remind your child not to worry about questions they do not know—remind them that it is expected they
will get about half of the questions correct

● Remind them that they will get assessment “breaks” that are integrated into the assessment

● Have paper and pencil handy for math questions” if you are using i-Ready for math

Sincerely,
Staci Novak
