About us:

Aayaam is the Hindi Literary and Cultural Society of National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli.
This literary group was the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu and the whole of South India, where Hindi is
not widely spoken. The motive behind establishing Aayaam was to promote the love for Hindi in Trichy
in general and NIT Trichy in particular. It provides a common platform to all the Hindi speaking people
to make their voice heard on a mass scale, in form of their literary works. It is a platform for those
who admire Hindi literature and want to bring forward their creativity in story writing, poem
composition or any form of composition in Hindi.

This Student's Society aims at keeping the elegance of the national language, Hindi, blossoming in
NITT. Having won numerous competitions outside the college, the members are brimming with
confidence as they organize the Hindi literary competitions at the inter college level in the College
Cultural Festival, Festember, Aaveg, Nittfest apart from celebrating cultural events like Holi, Dandiya
Night, Diwali etc

What we do:
❖ FESTEMBER
Various events in Hindi Lits were conducted by Aayaam in Festember. Participants from
visiting colleges as well as our colleges participate.
Events conducted were: Jasn-E-Mousiki, Bluff Master, Extempore, Kuch Na Kaho, Rochak
Mantarana, Halka Phulka, Debate, Cricket Quiz, Chakravyuh, India Quiz, Creative Writing.

❖ UMANG
Umang, the Hindi week is celebrated at NIT Tiruchirappalli premises by AAYAAM- Hindi cell of
NIT Trichy. The week aims to enrich the non-Hindi speaking society and increase their curiosity
about the language. Inclination of today’s generation towards the western culture has
revamped the need of activities that makes people aware of their own culture. Umang Hindi
week celebration has been initiated with a similar goal. Every Year more than 500 participants
from the institute across different events are seen. The detailed description of further events
across the week is as follows:
▪ Treasure Hunt: It is a written event which test people in both ways, logically and
mentally.

▪ Jashn-e-Maushiki(Antakshri With small Twist): Cinema is the best way to

promote any language due to its great attraction nowadays. Questions related to
Bollywood are asked in this event

▪ Antakshari: This is a very popular event among students of all colleges. It surely
enhances the reach of Hindi as a language in our campus, hence organized in “UMANG”.

▪ Shabdjaal: It is a common name for Crossword in which a good knowledge on Hindi

vocabulary is tested among the participants. This event includes judging the knowledge
of participants based on questions related to general knowledge about Indian history,
current affairs, etc.
▪ Chakravyuh : It’s a puzzle (logical puzzles, Quantitative type questions, etc) based
event. There were two stages (Prelims and final).

▪ Creative Writing : Poetry and literature is a foundation of any language. This event
tests writing/ critical thinking ability of the contestants.

▪ Parliamentary Debate : It is commonly known as Panel Discussion in which a

topic relevant to the present issue inside the institute is given to the participants and
thereafter a discussion takes place among the panellists before the audience, leading to a
final conclusion of the topic.

▪ Just a Minute (JAM) : This event tests the ability to speak Hindi with good
pronunciations and without grammatical mistakes. Participants are given a topic to speak
with a challenge of zero grammatical errors and proper pronunciation. It is one of the
most popular in literature event and contains huge participation.

▪ Halka-Fulka : It tests how deep one’s knowledge is in Hindi literature and language
construct.

▪ Cricket quiz : This event is mostly intuitive question about cricket and its rules and
important events.

▪ Movie Screening : Cinema outreaches most of the people in the campus and hence
proves to be a significant contributor in the spread Hindi as a language. Umang- Hindi
week brought movie screening in which a popular Hindi movie.

▪ JHANKAAR : Hindi is integrated with Indian culture and hence the final night is
celebrated with student performances in Hindi. The night comprised of a platform for the
students to showcase their talent in areas of singing (solo/duet) & dancing (solo/Group).
The event is highly enjoyed and cherished by the judges.

❖ DANDIYA NIGHT
Dandiya Night, the most awaited event of the Year was conducted during NAVRATRI where
various students came in ethnic dress and enjoyed Gujrati culture & dance with their friends.
Goodies were given to students for best ethnic wear. The main purpose of this festival was
to celebrate Durga’s honour on the occasion of Navaratri. This initiative was taken in 2010
with a view that the students who are more inclined to the western culture these days,
should not forget their tradition.

Aayaam conducts various Hindi Lits events in Aaveg like:

❖ HINDI LEARNING CLASSES

The Hindi Learning Classes are provided to students and faculties who have huge interest
and enthusiasm to learn Hindi. Aayam provides proper help and guidance to them.

❖ NITTFEST
Aayaam conduts various Hindi Lits events in NITTFEST like: Jasn-E-Mousiki, Extempore, Kuch
Na Kaho, Halka Phulka, Debate, Cricket Quiz, Chakravyuh, India Quiz and Creative Writing.

❖ Holi
Holi is celebrated on the night before Holi with Holika Dahan, where people perform rituals
in front of a bonfire, praying for their inner evil to be destroyed, just as Holika was killed in
fire. Colours and water tank are arranged and people were allowed to use and play with
them.

The Kavya Sandhya is one of the important events conducted by Aayam. Many students
show huge interest and enthusiasm and participate in this competition. All the participants
recited their poems and shayari on stage in front of students and are greatly appreciated.

CONTENT TEAM : We are responsible for all aspects of generating content on special occasions like events,
festivals etc. It consists of a content strategist, writer. We maintain the standard of content, covering many
other aspects like It should be organized and attractive.

We look for the most creative and original thinkers on campus, who collectively take on new challenges.
The team engages in various tasks representing Aayaam on multiple platforms.

EVENT MANAGER : In the Aayaam club, we'll organize conferences, seminars, and exhibitions, as well as
parties for all these things to work smoothly. We need a team that has overall control over the events, so
here come the responsibilities of event managers.Event managers plan and organize promotional,
business, and social events in the club. They're responsible for running a range of events, ensuring the
target audience is engaged, and marketing the event's message correctly.
We'll manage the whole process from the planning stage to running the event and carrying out the
post-event evaluation. The role is primarily hands-on and often involves working as part of a team.

PUBLICITY TEAM : As the name suggests, it is about the publicity of the club that is to extend the reach
of the club to more and more students, but it's not limited up to that, bringing chief guests and Judges
to the premises, booking guest houses, auditoriums, rooms are some responsibilities of the Publicity
team.

It's the publicist's job to help plan and coordinate special occasions. Publicity team responsibilities also
include determining the space needs and choose an event venue. They also create attendance lists, send
out invitations and follow up to ensure participation.

MARKETING TEAM : Marketing team is the responsible to connect with the industry for marketing purposes
and collaborating with other clubs for various activities and to get sponsored by top Brands for various
events and cultural activities like Umang, Dandiya night and Holi celebration conducted by Aayaam
DESIGN TEAM : We are design team, responsible for developing posters on all the occasions like events,
festivals etc.We maintain the standard of design and covering many other aspects like It should be
organized and attractive.

We look for the most creative and unique thinker which helps to makes different and attractive design.
The team engages in various tasks representing Aayaam on multiple platforms.

Web-Ops Team : It is created and managed by the members of Aayaam. Allows people to post their
original write-ups and creative thoughts in the Aayaam blog.It was created with a vision to encourage
people to recognize the importance of preserving the heritage of writing in our mother tongue, Hindi.

Furthermore, we are expecting those interested guys who can give their 100 percent for the Site
Management.

WHO CAN JOIN AAYAAM?
• Love Hindi Literature: Anyone who love to write contents like poems, short stories, or
any type of content related to Hindi can join Aayaam.
Your writings can be given spaces in ‘Pratibimb’ (a biannual Hindi magazine). Many
students are passionate to writings, so Cultural clubs give them opportunity. Various
competitions are also held like Quizzes, shabadjaal, chakrvyuh annually.

• Learn Hindi: Aayaam is club of Hindi lovers, but that does not mean if you don’t know
Hindi you can’t join it. Many students want to learn many languages, so this is your chance
to add a new language in your communication skills. We in Aayaam have regular classes
to teach Hindi.
These are not just classes, we dance, we sung, we perform dramas.

• Communication barriers: NIT Trichy is a national institute, so students from all over the
India comes to join the prestigious institute. Many of students which are coming from
Hindi medium finds difficulty to settle here in their starting days. It breaks the barrier for
those who wants to learn and grow.
