Preamble: Whereas, Section 46 of the Electricity Act, 2003, empowers the State Commission to authorize by way of Regulations, a distribution licensee to charge from a person requiring supply of the electricity in pursuance of Section 43, any expenses reasonably incurred in providing any electrical line or plant used for the purpose of giving that supply, the Commission by virtue of the said powers, read with Section 181 of the Act has notified the “KERC (Recovery of Expenditure for Supply of Electricity) Regulations, 2004” which has been amended from time to time. Consequent to a Petition vide OP No.100/2017 filed by the BESCOM and also requests made by the MESCOM and consumers, the Commission deemed it necessary to bring in certain further ‘amendments to the existing KERC (Recovery of Expenditure for Supply of Electricity) Regulations, 2004. ‘The Drafts of such amendments (proposed to be called as Ninth Amendment)to the KERC (Recovery of Expenditure for Supply of Electricity) Regulations, 2004, were notified vide Notifications No: KERC/D/2/17-18, dated 05.06.2017 and 17.07.2017 respectively inviting _objections/ suggestions/views from the stakeholders. The Draft Amendments were also hosted on the Commission's website www.karnataka.gov.in/kerc and published in the newspapers for the information of public/interested persons. The Commission had received _objections/ sugecstions/views from the stakeholders. The Commission, also held a ‘Public Hearing’ on 07-09 2017 in the matter and has considered the views/suggestions / objections received from the stakeholders.
