INTRODUCTION
Design has never been static. Over the decades new design approaches
and concepts have evolved in response to changes in the economic,
technological and social environmental conditions. Design historically grew
from craft activity, with the designer as an artisan and the nature as the main
source of inspiration.

When we look into the past, the pandemics that happened impaired several
countries around the globe but they also shaped architecture and city
planning. It is now evident that the covid-19 outbreak will also have a
profound effect on future architecture.

Architects and designers all around the world are coming up with both short
term and long term proposals to make way for a new lifestyle. This marks the
beginning of an architecture revolution and we’re lucky to witness the
beginning.

DESIGN PROBLEM
The competition aims to target a precinct which has high Importance in
society from time immemorial. A precinct of such nature and type where
transformation has to be inculcated holistically, where change has always
been half-hearted and underplayed. It's time to understand and offer design
Interventions to such precincts in full throttle not only for needs of today’s
pandemic situation and the need to maintain social distance but to foresee
and provide for tomorrow's. The solution to be offered has to be complete in
eliminating the deficiency of today and also able to deliver in future by
understanding the transformations at various fronts. Identification of scope for
Architectural Intervention, selection of appropriate materials and technology
will also form an important part of solution package.

OBJECTIVE
After the lockdown was implemented, people were unable to access public
spaces, as they emerged to be the hotspots of covid-19. The intervention or
the element you introduce in the space, is not just for today but this
intervention is going to be a kind of reminder for the people about what
happened in the past.

SITE SELECTION
The site should be a Public space of prominence in the city / region
anywhere in India. It should be a place which has always been attracting the
masses. The solution should be able to bring in transformation by bringing the
end-user in focus. It is for you to identify where the transformations are
required and how and what change they can bring in to allow the public to
use the space even in this kind of pandemic situations. The size of the site is to
be limited to 2.0 (Two) acres (± 20 %). Students can conduct the study from
secondary sources.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENT

 Site justification and analysis supporting the intervention program and

how effective the selected precinct and its impact zone is in
relevance.
 Concept development, site plan, view of the intervention carried out.
With suitable scale using appropriate presentation methods.
 Overall layout of the site under study with present and proposal
offered.
 Plans, Elevations and Sections of design solutions proposed along with
detailed site plan. All drawings to be at appropriate scale.
 Details / Sketches / drawings to reinforce design solutions and
proposed transformations.
 Project description in pdf format (report)

GENERAL GUIDELINES

 The submission is restricted to a maximum of 2 A1 sheet (landscape) in

PDF format and a report with a maximum of 20 A4 sheets (Portrait) in
PDF format.
 Use “Times new Roman” Font style and font size 12 for your report.
 Scale is left to the discretion of the participant(s) to the condition that
the scale should be in metric system and all the drawings should be
clear and legible.
 Sheets, pages are to be numbered properly.
 Data supporting the proposal shall be included in the report which is an
integral part of the submission.
 Completed works are expected to reach us on or before 15th August
2020 18:00 Hrs. Late submissions will not be entertained.
 Participants can either participate individually or as a group with a
maximum of 2 students per entry.
 No restrictions on the number of entries per college. But each entry
should be mailed separately.

  Competition registration code will be provided by “SMS” and the same
has to be mentioned in your sheets and report.
 Any misconduct such as exposing identity through college
Name/participant name on the sheets or report will be disqualified.
