Title:
Nutanix Files may experience severe performance degradation

Nutanix Files versions 3.8.1 and 3.8.1.1

Severity:

Insights Discovery:
Customers with Pulse enabled send Pulse telemetry to Nutanix Insights which enables you to check the status
of your clusters in the Nutanix Support Portal. Any clusters exposed to this issue will automatically create a
Discovery Recommendation action in the Nutanix Support Portal. It is recommended that you check all
Discoveries and follow the recommended actions to maintain optimal cluster health. The following Discovery
relates to this Field Advisory:

Description:
Nutanix has identified an issue where Nutanix Files servers running versions 3.8.1 or 3.8.1.1 may experience
memory pressure impacting Nutanix Files server performance and share availability.

Identification:
1. To determine the version of Nutanix Files:

a. Login to Prism

b. In Prism, go to Settings, then Upgrade Software:

Workaround:
Customers that are running Files 3.8.1 or 3.8.1.1 and experiencing severe performance or share availability
issues should immediately contact Nutanix Support at https://portal.nutanix.com for assistance, referencing
KB-11947.

Resolution:
Nutanix recommends that customers upgrade to 3.8.1.2 or later which contains the fix for this issue. The
Nutanix Files cluster can be upgraded via LCM or using the Prism 1-Click upgrade software. Please refer to
the Nutanix documentation for details on performing the upgrade.
