Title:
VMs on the AHV hypervisor may restart unexpectedly during an AOS upgrade

Description:
Nutanix has identified a rare issue where some VMs on the AHV hypervisor may restart unexpectedly during
an upgrade from AOS 5.20, 5.20.0.1 or 6.0.

Identification:
1. To determine the AOS version of the cluster, perform the following:

a. Log on to Prism Element

b. Click on the username (on the top right) > About Nutanix

 2. To determine if the cluster is susceptible, log in to any CVM on the cluster and run the following
command:

hostssh "netstat -ant | grep -F 192.168.5.254:3261 | grep ESTAB | wc -l"

Sample output:

============= x.x.x.1 ============

32
============= x.x.x.2 ============
39
============= x.x.x.5 ============
4

If any returned value per node is greater than 500, then the cluster is susceptible to this issue.

Resolution:
Customers that are susceptible to the issue and are planning an AOS upgrade should contact Nutanix Support
at https://portal.nutanix.com prior to upgrading AOS for assistance with pre and post upgrade steps and
reference KB-11756.

AOS 5.20.1.1 (LTS) and 6.0.1 (STS) or later contains the fix for this issue.

AOS 6.0.1 is tentatively scheduled for 25 August, 2021.

An update to this Field Advisory will occur on or before 25 August, 2021.
