Welcome to Centennial and to your First Year Student Experience. Our office is here
to ensure that new students make a successful transition to College life. We aim to
provide you with information and link you to campus resources in order to support you
in achieving your future goals while you’re on the path towards career success. Drop

This brochure is a guide to the supports, services and activities here for you
at Centennial. We know that it can be overwhelming to study in a new field,
college, city or country. The transition to college is an exciting time in your
life. Over the next few years, take some time to immerse yourself in the social,
academic and cultural aspects that compose the unique and exciting student
experience Centennial offers. Use this guide as a starting point for where to get
started, involved and connected.
Best of all, as a student at Centennial you will have the opportunity to make
new friends, learn, grow, explore and change with a full network of support
behind you. Our best people are here to help you on your journey.

Getting Involved –
Life at Centennial
Looking for a group of people with the same interests as you? Want to learn
something new? There is more to life at Centennial than classrooms. Getting involved
will help you meet new people, make new friends and explore new interests, all of
which support your academic success. Find out how you can get involved beyond the

CCSAI
The Centennial College Student Association Incorporated (CCSAI) is your on-campus
student government. Here to provide a voice for students, the CCSAI provides a great
mix of social events, programs and activities, and is an advocate for students. You can

Clubs
Are you interested in meeting new people who enjoy the same hobbies and interests

Peer Mentoring
A program matching new and senior students to enable student success through
individual and group mentoring and social events. Consider becoming a Peer Mentor

Varsity Athletics
With Varsity teams in badminton, soccer and basketball, Centennial’s elite athletes can

Engagement Week
During the semester break week there will be a ton of opportunities for you to get
involved with life on campus. Take advantage of over 20 free workshops, activities
and events are planned to support your academic, personal and career success. Watch

Campus Recreation
Offering a wide variety of trips, events, intramural and extramural programs,
Campus Recreation has something for everyone. Get in on the action at all four

An opportunity to learn and grow as a leader, Centennial offers opportunities
for students to get involved through the Leadership Passport. By completing the
components of the passport, you can graduate with a Distinction in Leadership and

of our halls, diploma in hand, we’re going to be there for you, no matter what you
need. Centennial is more than just a school, we’re a community composed of dedicated
individuals who put the needs of our students first. Connecting to services and support
services at college is a great way to get the help you need to be successful. We offer a
wide range of services to help you adjust to college and make the most of your time
here. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, homesick, concerned about your courses, your

Child Care Centre
Need childcare? Our childcare centre offers outstanding care to children of students and
our community.

Technology
Each campus has its own Client Support Counter where students can go for technical
information, help with logging into the system, resetting forgotten passwords, or even
just paper refills in any of our many computer labs. Perhaps you’re at home and you
need help connecting to our online services through myCentennial; simply call the
Helpdesk Call Centre at 416-289-5280, state your problem, and a Helpdesk agent will
walk you through the process.

Student Advising Office
Visit the Student Advising Office whenever you need help making sense of your
new environment or have questions about your program path and options.

Academic Advising
You have access to academic advisors within your own school who can help guide you
during your program and answer specific questions around program paths, policies and
procedures related to adding or dropping courses. They can also keep you informed
of school activities, resources, workshops and programs. Be sure to reach out to your
academic advisor at your front desk reception area.
Counselling
Our counsellors can help you plan for your career, develop learning strategies, or just be
there when you need to talk to someone about school or a personal problem. We offer
confidential free group or individual sessions, where together we can develop academic
strategies for your success.

Libraries
Borrow a book or a netbook computer. Find a study space with your friends or work
quietly by yourself. Our helpful staff can help you with your assignments and anything
else you can think of.

Our Employment Advisors are here to assist you with resumés, cover letters, job

Cooperative Education
Co-op gives you full-time work experience in your field of study while you’re a
Centennial College student. It can also help pay for your education and increase your

A big part of your success is getting the help you need and finding resources to
support your personal and academic success. There are a variety of workshops available
throughout the semester designed to ease your transition to college life and provide

Balancing work, life and school can be tricky. Be sure to attend workshops developed
to enhance your financial literacy and help you balance your own budget.

Leadership
Grow as individual and as a leader. Join us for Leadership Passport workshops on
leadership competencies and reflective practice. Take part in our student leadership
conference or in the LeaderShape Institute. You can also take part in monthly lunch
and learns featuring different topics including: women in leadership, diversity and
