ECE 13: SCIENCE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

FACULTY: MS. DACHEL LADERA

ACTIVITY:

TASK: What makes an activity fun?

The activity must be interactive between children to teacher and teachers to children. For me it makes fun
if the activity is more on learning experiences, interactive, outdoor activities makes it more fun and
enjoying. Just like when I observe preschool inside the classroom, to aroused there learning is the teacher
used to have an activity like dramatic play because they would able to perform at the same time can
express their feeling on the activity given. On the other, the outdoor activity lies the positive growth of a
child, he/she developed when engage to certain outdoor activity.

APPLICATION:

TASK: If you are to add in the secondary integration activity for this concept, what would it be? Why did
you choose that activity? (10 pts.)

A concept about cycle of plants, from seed to plants to seed again. A teacher must provide a tangible or a
literal plant that will serve as an evidence for seeing them authentic and realistic. Children can see them
and understand the cycle of the plants growing up. The form of seeds and image of it when growing.

ACTIVITY:

TASK: What makes an activity engaging?

If the activity is interesting especially if play based activity because most of the time children are into
play spending too much of time, hours, minutes and seconds. From time to time every child are more
engage at the same learn as well.

APPLICATION:

TASK: If you are to add in the secondary integration activity for this concept, what would it be? Why did
you choose that activity? (10 pts.)
Probably an observation concept of an insect how it flew and eats. A teacher must give on her lesson
evidential information or detailed a step towards understanding in ecological relationships.

ACTIVITY:

TASK: What makes an activity rich in learning?

If children would engage in exploring ideas and issues, and solving problems and constructing
knowledge in that way children themselves could analyze and manipulate the thing that are confusing.

APPLICATION:

TASK: If you are to add in the secondary integration activity for this concept, what would it be? Why did
you choose that activity? (10 pts.)

An activity about the proper caring and hygiene of the body. Children must involve in handwashing
activity, toothbrushing, and other routines at home for cleaning the body. In that way, children can aware
what are the steps and proper if doing it at home, or even at school.

ACTIVITY:

TASK: What makes an activity promote growth and development?

Physical activity promotes growth and development because the more a child engaged to the he/she will
become matured as a person. Everything that has something to do in moving the body, hands, thighs, all
of it are used to have an activity.

APPLICATION:

TASK: Answer the following questions. (3 points each)

1. Have you had any encounter with similar activities for each content?
Yes, I think most of it for each content are already being seen and applied in the
classroom in preschools. Same of primary integration but different content listed.

2. What made the given sample of science experiences unique among others?
Its usually the air and the concept because its not new for a child perhaps they would be
an instant confusion since air cannot be seen. But on the given concept and ideas of activity how
to give to them the understanding, its unique and integrate a problem-solving effect.
3. Are the primary integration methods suggested would help students understand better?
Yes, primary integration help students to understand better because a lot of concept are
listed and activity suggested. The primary integration is more giving us the idea of making the
activity perfectly in used and giving us the idea what to choose certain activity with promotes
learning.

4. If you have to add 1 experience for any concept mentioned of your choice, for home which
families are involved what would it be?
Children it the target of the learning objective, that means children should be the top
priority aiming them to learn, and also the parents because they are the ones the support the child
at home. The absence of teacher is not questionable as long as the parents are being taught and
that can help their children to learn at home. If I add one experience, I would include the concept
of electricity, the power to make and give light in every and how it helps at home.

5. As you have finished reading, what are the disadvantages that you have seen in the science
experiences? (if there any).
A lot of the activities are of significant for a child to achieve certain development and
enable to promote growth on them however there are some activity that are difficult to include
because the availability of resources isn’t enough and somehow it arouse a confusing memory
instilled in the mind of children. Although, its beneficial and rich in learning but the complex of
the activity is given and that is the problem.
