(1) A coil of 500 turns and 24 ohm resistance is wound uniformly on an iron ring of mean
circumference 50 cm and cross-sectional area of 4 cm2. It is connected to 24 volt D.C.

a) The magneto motive force of the coil.
b) The magnetizing field intensity.
c) The total flux.

(2) An iron ring has a cross-sectional area of 3 cm2 and mean diameter of 25 cm. An air gap

(6) A coil wound on a magnetic core is excited by the following sources.

(a) 100 V, 50Hz.
(b) 110 V, 60 Hz.
Compare the hysteresis losses and eddy current losses with these two different
sources. For hysteresis loss consider n = 2.

(7) A coil wound on a magnetic core is excited form A.C. voltage source. The eddy current
loss is found to be 1000 W. Calculate the eddy current loss if the source voltage and
frequency are both doubled.
