Dell Docking Station Ports and Connections Setup
Dell Docking Stations purchased through WCER are similar to the model below. Docks work
with Dells that have USB-C connections. This includes Dell Latitude 7480 and 7400 series
laptops. Also compatible with Dell XPS models that have a USB-C port connection.
Below image is of the ports both on the front and rear of a Dell WD19 Docking Station - tags
and numeric references to port names provided.
Connect power adapter to Dell Docking Station and plug in to AC power. A larger power
adapter and cable was included in the box your docking station came in. Your laptop will
charge through the dock while it is connected.
Connect your powered-off laptop to the docking station with the usb c cable at the
end of the dock. (images 1 and 2 below)
Users without docking stations may want to consider ordering a USB-C Ethernet
Adapter Dongle. Priced at about $40, these dongles permit modern laptops to
connect to an active wired ethernet connection. In the image below, a Dell Ethernet
Dongle is shown.
