1.0 FACULTY OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SCIENCES AND ECONOMICS

1.1 Department of Business Enterprise and Management (5 Posts)

1.1.1 Human Capital Management (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Human Capital Management at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
 To supervise research projects of Undergraduate and Masters’ students.
 To research and publish scholarly articles in peer reviewed journals.
 To provide administrative and community services.
 To nurture innovation among students.
 To actively participate in the implementation of the University’s innovation and
industrialisation strategy.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have a Bachelor of Business Studies Honours degree in Management or
equivalent.
 Master of Science degree Human Resources Management or equivalent.
 A PhD degree in Human Resources Management is added advantage.

1.1.2 Marketing (3 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Marketing courses.
 To supervise research projects of Undergraduate and Masters’ students.
 To research and publish scholarly articles in peer reviewed journals.
 To provide administrative and community services.

1.2 Department of Economics and Development (3 Posts)

1.2.1 Natural /Energy Economics (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 To teach at both Undergraduate and Masters Levels.
 To teach the following courses at Undergraduate level (level 1 to 4): Microeconomics,
Macroeconomics, Natural Resources Economics, Energy Economics, Mineral Economics
and Waste Management Economics.
 To supervise students at both undergraduate and Masters levels.
 To undertake administrative duties.
 To provide community service to the University and beyond.
 To carry out research in his/her areas of interest
 To be innovative enough to add new knowledge to academia
 To be able to industrialise and add value within the community in which he/she operates

 Applicants should have a PhD degree in Economics or related field majoring in Economics
or Natural or Energy Economics or equivalent.
 Extensive Industry and Commerce experience at Senior Managerial or Professional level.
 Proven record in University teaching and research, at Masters level, in the areas indicated.
 Applicants should demonstrate a high level of literacy in Information Technology.

1.2.2 Industrial /Trade Economics (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 To teach at both Undergraduate and Masters Levels.
 To teach the following courses at Undergraduate level (level 1 to 4): Microeconomics,

Techniques for Economists and Econometrics.

 Applicants should have a first degree in Information and Technology or Computer Sciences
and a relevant Masters degree.
 A PhD degree in Information and Technology or Computer Sciences or Business
Management Sciences or relevant field majoring in Information and Technology or
Computer Sciences.
 Extensive Industry and Commerce experience at Senior Managerial or Professional levels.
 Proven record in University teaching and research, at Masters level in the areas indicated.
 Demonstrate a high level of literacy in Information Technology.

1.3.2 Finance/Accountancy (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 To teach at both Undergraduate and Masters levels in the following courses: Advanced
Audit and Investigations, Public Administration, Introduction to Public Sector Management
Accounting, Forensic Accounting Techniques, Banking Theory and Practice, Treasury
Management, Digital Banking and Payments Systems, Performance Management , Public
Sector Law, and Financial Markets and Regulations

Culinary Arts and Institutional Catering, Food preparation and Culinary Practices,
Banqueting and Conferencing, Restaurent Coordination and Floor Planning, Tourism Law,
Regulations and Policies, Strategic Sustainable Tourism Develpment and Destination
Management, Principles of Leisure and Recreation.
 To supervise students at both Undergraduate and Masters levels
 To undertake administrative duties.

1.4.4 Tourism Economics (1 Post)


Responsibilities
 To teach at both Undergraduate and Masters levels in the following courses: Tourism
Demand Modeling and Forecasting, International Tourism Finance and Fundamentals of
Economics Tourism Development.
 To supervise students at both Undergraduate and Masters levels.
 To undertake administrative duties.

2.0 FACULTY OF SCIENCE

2.1 Department of Biological Sciences and Ecology (13 Posts)

2.1.1 Biomathematics (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 To teach Biomathematics and Research Methods courses at Undergraduate and
Postgraduate levels.
 To assist members of the Department with their research.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Biometrics, Biology
Computation or suitable equivalent with research and teaching experience involving the
design and analysis of experiments.
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 Must be Computer literate.

2.1.2 Mycology/Biotechnology (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 To teach Undergraduate students.

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in a relevant area.
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 Experience in fungai taxonomy, mycogenetics and biotechnology would be an added
advantage.
2.1.3 Quantitative and Population Genetics (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 To teach both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
 To carry out and lead research in this discipline

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Quantitative and Population
Genetics or related area.
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 The successful candidate should be well versed in areas like types of quantitative traits,
artificial selection, prediction equation, genetic basis of quantitative traits, number of
genes affecting quantitative traits, intensity of selection, heritability, resemblance between
relatives, long-term artificial selection, in-breeding depression, correlated responses and
selection limits.

2.1.4 General Microbiology (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 To teach both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
 To carry out and lead research in this discipline

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Microbiology or related area
 The successful candidate should demonstrate a broad knowledge of the biology of micro-
organisms.

2.1.5 Forensic Science - Legal Aspects (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 To teach both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
 To carry out and lead research in this discipline

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 The successful candidate should be have a proven experience in teaching Legal Aspects in
Forensic Science and other related courses in the Forensic field.
 A good understanding of the Forensic Science sector and have extensive forensic training
experience preferably with a professional setting.
2.1.6 Entomology (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Entomology and Pest Management courses to both Undergraduate and
Postgraduate students.
 To carry out and lead research in this discipline
 Supervise both Undergraduate and Postgraduate research students

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Entomology, Insect Pest
Management or Crop protection
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 Experience in Insect Systematic and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) research and/or
teaching with a proven record of publications will be an added advantage.

2.1.7 Ecology (2 Posts)


Responsibilities
 To teach Ecology courses to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
 To carry out and lead research in this discipline
 Supervise both Undergraduate and Postgraduate research students

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Ecology
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 Experience in Tropical and Subtropical Systems, with emphasis in ecosystem structure and
functioning will be added advantage.

2.1.8 Invertebrate Zoology (Nematology) (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Parasitology/Histology and Invertebrate Zoology courses to Undergraduate
students.
 To carry out and lead research in this discipline

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Invertebrate Zoology,
Nematology or a related discipline
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.

2.1.9 Animal Ecology (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to general undergraduate
and postgraduate programmes, particularly the MSc in Tropical Resources Ecology.
 The applicant will also be expected to carry out and lead research in this discipline

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Animal Ecology or a related
discipline
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 Experience in large mammal ecology

2.1.10 Molecular Genetics (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 The successful applicant will be expected to teach both Undergraduate and
Postgraduate courses

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Molecular Genetics and an
equivalent research experience
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 Ability to teach Molecular Genetics, Forensic Genetics or Applied Genetics.

2.1.11 Forensic Science - Criminalistics (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the course evolution and
teaching within general undergraduate forensic subject matter.
 To undertake unique research in forensic science area.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science specialising
in Criminalistics
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 The applicant should have a good understanding of the Forensic Science sector and have
extensive forensic training experience preferably within a professional setting.

2.1.12 Plant Physiology (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 The successful applicant will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate
programmes.
 The applicant will also be expected to carry out and lead research in this discipline

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Botany/Plant Science or
related discipline
 A PhD degree will be an added advantage.
 The applicant should have expertise in at least one of the following areas:
Photosynthesis, Mineral Nutrition in plants, Water and Water relations or seed Physiology.
2.1.13 Rangeland and Ecology (1 Post)

Responsibilities
 The successful applicant will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate
programmes.
 The applicant will also be expected to carry out and lead research in this discipline

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Ecology
 A PhD degree and experience in tropical and sub-tropical systems, with emphasis in
ecosystem structure and functioning will be an added advantage.

2.2 Department of Geography, Geospatial Sciences and Earth Observation (14

2.2.1 Geocomputation and Programming (3 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Geospatial Intelligence and related courses.
 To conduct innovative research leading to the development of marketable geo apps,
bespoke interactive geodatabases for the Asset and Infrastructure Research sub-group.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

 Applicants should have an earned PhD or MSc/Mphil degree in Information


Communication Technology or related fields such as Computer Engineering and
Programming.
 Applicants are required to have a demonstrable history of developing innovative
Information Technology products and systems for diverse clients.
 Be a Scientist with strong quantitative and computational skills in fields related to
Cybersecurity, Geocomputation, Computer Programming and Geospatial Algorithms.

2.2.2 Geospatial Health (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To contribute towards research, teaching, innovation and community service.
 Review of curricula for existing and new academic degree programmes, developing state-
of-the-art techniques for modelling the interactions between environment, population and
health as well as conducting cutting-edge research in Spatial Epidemiology and related
fields leading to the development of new geospatial health products and services.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have an earned PhD or MSc/Mphil degree in Spatial Epidemiology or
Geospatial Health with a focus on any of the following: quantitative disease modelling,
disease cluster analysis and surveillance.
 Applicants must show evidence of being good independent scholars in their fields of
specialisation with a proven publication record.
 Be a Scientist with strong quantitative skills in Spatial Epidemiology.

2.2.3 Geospatial Modelling (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To contribute significantly in the co-design, teaching and supervision of Undergraduate
and Postgraduate courses.
 To conduct programmatic research, delivering solutions as well as the development and
commercialization of geospatial products, systems and software.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have an earned PhD or MSc/Mphil degree in Geographical Information
Science, GIS or related fields such as Spatial Analysis.
 Applicants must show evidence of being good independent scholars with at least five (5)
publications in scientific peer reviewed journals.
 Be a Geographic Information Scientist with strong quantitative and modelling skills.

2.2.4 Remote Sensing Scientist (5 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To contribute in the teaching and introduction of new Remote Sensing/Earth Observation
courses.
 Be expected to mobilise funds and conduct cutting-edge research using novel approaches
and state of the art imaging systems to generate results that are solutions to societal
problems.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have an earned PhD or MSc/Mphil degree in Remote Sensing or Earth
Observation with a special focus on both passive and active sensors
 Applicants must show evidence of being good independent scholars in the field of Remote
Sensing and its diverse applications, with at least five (5) publications in scientific peer
reviewed journals.
 Be a Remote Sensing Scientist and Practitioner of good repute.

2.2.5 Water Scientist and Geophysicist (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To design and implement new strategic Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses.
 Being at the forefront of innovation based on intergrated application of Mathematics and
imaging technologies to create value through products and services which expand the
customer base.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have at least MSc/MPhil degree in any of the following fields:
Groundwater Hydrology, Hydro-environmental Modelling, Geophysics and Remote Sensing
of Minerals.
 Applicants should be Water Scientists and Geophysicists with strong quantitative and
modelling skills in fields related to one or more of: Groundwater Hydrology, Hydro-
environmental modelling, Geophysics and Remote Sensing of Minerals.
 Applicants should show evidence of being good independent scholars with a solid research
record; who are productive publishers, innovators, good teachers and post-graduate
supervisors; and who have a demonstrable history of successful research funding.

2.3 Department of Mathematics and Computational Sciences (22 Posts)

2.4 Department of Space Science and Applied Physics (12 Posts)

2.4.1 Electronics/Electronic Instrumentation (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Electronic Instrumentation/instrumentation Physics amongst other courses at
Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, which include laboratory and project supervision.
 To teach in the Master of Science programme in Applied Physics and to conduct research
in their field of expertise.
 In line with Education 5.0, the Applicant will also be responsible for innovation, community
service, industrialization, technology transfer and dissemination in their area of expertise.

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics with a strong
background in Electronics, Electronic Instrumentation or a relevant qualification.
 Preference will be given to those with teaching experience, research expertise and
industrial experience in Electronics and Electronic Instrumentation/instrumentation
Physics.

2.4.2 Geophysics (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Geophysics amongst other courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels,
which include laboratory and project supervision.
 To teach in the MSc programme in Exploration Geophysics, Applied Physics and to conduct
research in their field of expertise.
 In line with Education 5.0, the Applicant will also be responsible for innovation, community
service, industrialization, technology transfer and dissemination in their area of expertise.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have at least an MSc degree in Geophysics with a BSc in Physics or
relevant qualification.
 Preference will be given to those with teaching experience, research expertise and
industrial experience in Geophysics.

2.4.3 Meteorology/Atmospheric Physics (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Meteorology, Weather Analysis and Forecasting or Climate Physics and Modelling
amongst other courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, which include
laboratory and project supervision.
 To teach in the MSc programmes in Applied Physics and Agricultural Meteorology, Climate
Science and Climate Systems Modelling.
 To conduct research in their field of expertise.
 In line with Education 5.0, the Applicant will also be responsible for innovation, community
service, industrialization, technology transfer and dissemination in their area of expertise.

 Applicants should have at least an MSc degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Physics or
relevant qualification.
 Preference will be given to those with teaching experience, research expertise and
industrial experience in Meteorology or Atmospheric Physics.

2.4.4 Space Science and Technology (2 Posts)


Responsibilities
 To teach Space Science and Technology courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels
and to conduct research in their field of expertise.
 In line with Education 5.0, the Applicant will also be responsible for innovation, community
service, industrialization, technology transfer and dissemination in their area of expertise.

 Applicants should have at least a Master of Science degree in Space Science and a Bachelor
of Science degree in Physics or relevant qualification.
 Preference will be given to those with teaching experience, research expertise and
industrial experience in Aerospace Engineering and Avionics, Astronomy, Satellites and
Satellites Communication and Space Weather.

2.4.5 Medical Physics/Applied Physics (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Medical Physics courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
 To develop experiments suitable for the MSc in Medical Physics and BSc Medical Physics
programmes as well as supervise projects.
 In line with Education 5.0, the Applicant will also be responsible for innovation, community
service, industrialization, technology transfer and dissemination in their area of expertise.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


 Applicants should have at least an MSc degree in Medical Physics or MSc in Applied Physics
with a strong background in Medical Physics and a BSc in Physics or relevant qualification.
 Preference will be given to those with teaching experience, research expertise and
industrial experience in Medical Physics and Medical Nanotechnology.

2.4.6 Solid State Physics/Material Science/Nanotechnology (2 Posts)

Responsibilities
 To teach Solid State Physics, Material Science, Nanotechnology amongst other courses at
Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, which include laboratory and project supervision.
 To teach in the MSc programme in Applied Physics, MSc in Nanotechnology and to conduct
research in their field of expertise.
 In line with Education 5.0, the Applicant will also be responsible for innovation, community
service, industrialization, technology transfer and dissemination in their area of expertise.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

 Applicants should have at least an MSc degree in Solid State Physics/Material Science or
Nanotechnology with a BSc in Physics or relevant qualification.
 Preference will be given to those with teaching experience, research expertise and
industrial experience in Laser Physics, Photonics, Material Science and Nanotechnology.
3.0 FACULTY OF SOCIAL AND BEHAVIOURAL SCIENCES
