Define ART APPRECIATION

Art is generally understood as any activity or product done by people with a

communicative or aesthetic purpose-something that express an idea, an emotion, or more
generally, a world view. It is a component of culture, reflecting economic and social substrates in
its design. It transmits ideas and values inherent in every culture across space and time. It role
changes through time, acquiring more of an aesthetic component here and a socio-educational
function there. Art is a diverse of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing
artifacts, expressing the author’s imaginative, conceptual ideas or technical skill, intended to be
appreciated for their beauty or emotional power. The term art encompasses a large variety of
works, from paintings to sculptures, architecture to design, and in modern times, digital art.
Everyone can appreciate and marvel at art, and being subjective in nature, different art forms
appeal to different people. Art appreciation, however, refers to the exploration and analysis of
the art forms that we are exposed to. It can be highly subjective, depending on an individuals
personal tastes and preferences, or can be done on the basis of several grounds such as elements
of design and mastery displayed in the piece. Art appreciation also involves a deeper look into
the setting and historical implication and background of the piece, a study of its origins. Art is
dynamic, with new trends and styles emerging at a fast pace. However, the final attempt of the
artist is that it speaks to the viewer on a personal level and can be interpreted in a variety of
ways. Art opens up the stream of subconscious and intends to personally touch every person that
comes across it. Art appreciation is extremely relevant for multiple reasons. It is a good way to
understand the history behind the work, and the period from which the piece originated. Artists
often reflect the problems that they face, and the issues of the society in their work. By analyzing
and putting ourselves in the mind of the artist, we can better study how differently society
functioned then, compared to now. We can empathize and relate to the problems they faced on a
personal level. Art is meant to stimulate thought and conversation between its viewers. By
reflecting on a piece of art, we delve into our own experiences and nostalgia, thus a piece of art
means something different to every person that comes across it. Art appreciation helps open up
the mindset of the people, by listening to different perspectives and views as well as
interpretations of the art, it encourages thoughtful conversation and the understanding that there
is more than one approach to everything. For many people, art is meant to express something that
we ourselves feel unable to express or convey. Through its visual medium it evokes feelings of
joy, sadness, anger and pain. That is why art appreciation is so important in bringing that one
final element to complete the work, and that is our interpretation. Our perspective brings the
artwork to life as it changes for every person around it. It is important to foster art appreciation
and analysis, as it helps us value the art in how it appeals to us and what it means to each person.
It delves into the history and the story behind the art, as well as a look into the lives of the artists.
It enables one to critically analyze a work, along lines of design, mastery and techniques. Most
importantly, however, art appreciation stimulates though and analysis, provokes an individual to
look past what meets the eye and open our mind to the views of others.
Is Art Appreciation subject related to your course?

Is it significant in the field we choose to take or in our life? For me yes. The term art
includes a large variety of works, from paintings to sculptures, architecture to design, and in
modern times, digital art. We can see, hear, feel and taste art everywhere as they say. It is
basically the application of knowledge comprising theories, rules, concepts and conventions and
it helps us to achieve our goals and tells us how to achieve our objectives in best way. It is
needed that students must learn about art or art appreciation for them establish meaning and
convey their thoughts when they express their personal opinions about what they are seeing,
feeling and thinking using those common knowledge. This allows them an opportunity to
develop an open mind and understand that there is more than just one solution to a problem in
every challenge they encounter in any aspect of life. As it is important for every individual or for
every sector in the industry, accounting, which can be defined as an art of recording, classifying,
summarizing and interpreting financial transaction to the users, has an objective to help users in
decision making and it can be achieved by using those techniques based in certain principles or
conceptual knowledge that is universally applicable or accepted and derived from observations,
experiments and testing. So just like singers and artist, we accounting students need to have a
regular practice and develop our art appreciation skills because it requires talent and imagination
in identifying, measuring and communicating business transaction and to get the best results
which are the financial reports. Art appreciation also teaches us that art is meant to enable
thought and conversation between its viewers; it enhances our interpretation which is the final
element of an artwork. We study the meaning behind the piece of art which is the financial
statement or book of accounts for us to interpret the process and interpret it to the viewers. When
we are finally ready to enter the business world, we can apply what we learned in Art
Appreciation. Like we have to be creative and resourceful to excel in our chosen field, to be
recognized and be awarded for the effort we have exerted. We do not just have to appreciate our
own work but also the work of others, if we may became a boss, we should know how to
properly analyze, criticize, judge or evaluate a work of others by how it appeals to us and what it
means to each person arounds you. It is really important to know how to appreciate an art to
open our mind to the views of others. Then therefore, having an appreciation for art also helps us
to develop an appreciation for each other and how we are all unique in our own way.

Are you an Artistic person?

I think yes, every person is creative in one way or another , just as everyone is unique. I
believe that everyone is creative in their own ways. Being creative doesn’t mean just drawing or
painting something. Example, making key notes of things you like or keep doing them that is
creativity, or making songs. Creativity is something that happens when the data in my head ,
accumulated from broad and diverse range of sources, collide interestingly in unique and use
ways. Creativity is just connecting things. In my life, I used creativity in many ways. For
example cooking, there are limited items in the fridge. Since I love cooking, I used my creative
mind to make a good meal that I never tried before. Being creative is essentially letting go of
what is expected and obvious, and allowing for possibilities to come up. I get creative when I
have difficulties managing people as a team leader or group leader in my high school days, and I
look for creative solutions on how to fix it. I believe that you’re creative when you come up
solutions of your own of whatever kind. It doesn’t have to be anything artistic. Being creative is
thinking, identifying, exploring, understanding, experimenting, discovering, creating and
establishing a new idea which was non existent in new form. There are many ways that creativity
like people who love writing story, dancing, singing or making unpredictable things. An artistic
person are those having imaginative minds that their clashing ideas would come up an a
unexpected outcome that appreciates by you and everyone. Having a creative mind doesn’t mean
always engaging in a focused creative or artistic task. Creative and artistic people are
imaginative, curious about many things and spend a great deal of time at rest, quietly reflecting
on the topics that hold their interest and allowing their mind to wander. Creative people don’t
just enjoy the work, instead they passionately love what they do. For myself, when I have my
focus on my interest like taking pictures or videos, making “Filipino poems” it really boost
myself to make those passionately. My imaginative mind really loves making creative ideas and
objectives. That is why for me, creativity is our own passion. Creativity is our originality about
something. Yes, I consider myself creative because every person is creative and has it’s own
passion and originality. First of all I love my works. Second, I want all everything to be
conscious, enthusiasts and I am passionate about the things that I have interests in.
