GLOBALIZATION is “The expansion & intensification of social relations and consciousness across
world time and world space” - Steger, 2014
According to Steger (2013), “Globalization refers to the expansion and intensification of social
relations and consciousness across world-time and world-space”. It establishes connections
between people and from this process it entails the movement of goods, technology, people,
and money across the globe. As consumers, each day all of us faced the dilemma with choosing
a vast variety of foods or objects to consume. These products not only connect us to
globalization, but serves as the stepping stone towards globalization. Consumers received
products from around the world because of free trade and the willingness of those countries to
participate in these trade deals. Globalism is a widespread belief among powerful people that
the global integration of economic markets is beneficial for everyone, since it spreads freedom
and democracy across the world. Expansion refers to “both the creation of new social networks
and the multiplication of existing connections that cut across traditional political, economic,
cultural and geographic boundaries. Globalization may be defined as the increasing interaction
among, and integration of, the activities, especially economic activities, of human societies
around the world. Globalization refers to the expansion and intensification of social relations
and consciousness across world-time and world-space. It is a multi-dimensional phenomenon
involving economics, politics, culture, ideology, environment, and technology.
