TABLE OF CONTENTS
ABSTRACT
This report comprises the details of all the information I got during my industrial training
with Indicon Limited at Topcon Warehouse construction. It entails mainly stages of the
constructions done when I was at the site and the report also contains the problems and
challenges encountered during the six weeks of training.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION

This report was generated from the project that started in late 2020, located in Kampala
district with the boundaries of Makerere Region. The project was funded by Topcon
Industrials and contracted to Indicon Contractors Limited.

This report is intended to give information of what was done during the training that took
place for about 10 weeks and be submitted to UBTEB.

Industrial training back ground

Field attachment is a field-based practical training experience that prepares trainees

for the tasks they are expected to perform on completion of their technical training. As
part of the study program, every student pursuing a course of Diploma in Civil
Engineering is required to undergo industrial training at the end of the second
semester of first year of study. The final part of the Industrial training is writing up a
report with regards to the field experiences obtained by the student .

Objectives of the training

 To enable students, get hands-on/real-life experience they are expected to work

in when they graduate.
 To provide an opportunity for students to apply the principles and techniques
theoretically learnt into real-life problem-solving situations.
 To develop student understanding of work ethics, employment demands,
responsibilities and opportunities.
 To enhance and strengthen linkages between Technical college and various
stakeholders.
 To enable students to access and use different machines and tools and get to know
how they are applied.
 To enable students, appreciate the relevance of non-engineering professions in the
execution of a given project.
