Despite observing all the protocols and the best efforts of our doctors and other frontline warriors, we have lost many of our colleagues and near and dear ones. ‘The experience of many advanced countries in the world like the UK and the USA has demonstrated that the most efficacious defence against the Covid-19 is vaccination. Countries that have reached around 50 percent or above of national vaccination have, to a great extent, defeated the virus. By virtue of their victory, they are now moving slowly towards normalcy in their personal and academic lives. 1 would like to urge all of you to participate in large numbers in receiving vaccination with your families. Teachers are considered role models by other sections of the society. Please lead by your personal examples and motivate others, your near and dear ones, your relatives and neighbours to shake off their hesitancy and receive vaccination. There is no option other than the medical intervention, that is vaccination, to fight the Corona Virus. We cannot be safe unless all of us are vaccinated. It is the responsibility of all of us, especially Deans of faculties, Directors of Centres, Heads of Departments, Principals, Provosts and Heads of Sections to urge their colleagues to take this up as an individual and collective mission to rid the nation of the scourge of the Corona Virus.
