Scripture: Genesis 25:27-34

“When the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the field; but Jacob
was a peaceful man, living in tents. Now Isaac loved Esau, because he had a taste for
game; but Rebekah loved Jacob. And when Jacob had cooked stew, Esau came in from
the field and he was famished; and Esau said to Jacob, ‘Please let me have a swallow of
that red stuff there, for I am famished.’ Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob
said, ‘First sell me your birthright.’ And Esau said, ‘Behold, I am about to die; so of
what use then is the birthright to me?’ And Jacob said, ‘First swear to me’; so he swore
to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew;
and he ate and drank and rose and went on his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.”

ANO BA AN BIRTHRIGHT? GAANO KAHALAGA ITO DATI?

II. THE COOK VS THE HUNTER

What is the attitude of Jacob?
-Schemer
 And I have a suspicion that it wasn’t just coincidence that he was preparing this
lentil stew at about the time his brother would come back hungry from the hunt.
 It was in his nature to scheme.
 And schemers are selfish people,
 who spend a great deal of their time scheming;
 thinking of themselves,
 planning the next move that will extract something they want from someone…
 benefit them in some way.
 Jacob was cooking up something more than lentil soup that day, and the result
of his scheming would set the course of his future.

It was God’s plan..

True, it was in God’s plan that he would be first.

God promised Abraham a son who would be his heir and through whom the nations
would be blessed…

God said…

“’For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways’, declares the
Lord.” (Isa 55:8)
Plano ng Lord na adi ka!! Kahit damo an mga kasaypanan na imo gin buhat. Kahit dati
buwaon ka, malinger ka, kupal ka, mas matindi ka pa kan Jacob, plano ng LORD bakit
isa ka sa mga napili niya…

And we all prove that statement true on a daily basis. Because His thoughts and ways
are high and holy, and our thoughts and ways are base and evil. The separation is
infinite.

THE HUNTER !

What is the attitude of Esau?

 he is not as clever as his homemaker brother. He smells the stew, his stomach
growls, and so he growls back.

An yana la an iya gin huhunahuna. An iya situation.. which literally we are like that..
We are doing a permanent solution to a temporary problem..

And beside, MANGANGASO siya.. not just MANGANGASO KUNDI SKILLFULL HUNTER..

Then comes Jacob’s request; one that should have sounded absurd to Esau.

 Trade my birthright for one meal? In half an hour I’ll be hungry again.
 What is a bowl of soup compared to my inheritance?
 What is anything, for that matter, that passes away, compared to the promise
from God’s own mouth?

ESAU said..

“Behold, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?”

Do you think he was really about to die? Of course not! He was hungry.

Esau could do something about his hunger. He was a hunter for crying out loud! Where
was the day’s catch?

Baga- Baga la hiya hin sugad an ira conversation..

“Moloy, promise me that when you retire you’ll give me your pension each month, and
I’ll give you this cheese burger from Angels” Do you hear how absurd that is?

But DIRE LA NAG UUSAHAN HI ESAU… ASK yourself “am I like Esau”? .
Birthright now could be the Relationship naton kan LORD.. The Ministry na may kita…

WAKE UP.

RIGHTNOOWWWW…. Nak, Close your eyes,, if there is a guilt in your heart rightnow it means the LORD
is telling you that you need to value your birthright.. We need to repent and value the things from the
LORD..
