Maurits Cornelis Escher was born in 1898 in Leeuwarden, Holland.

His family

wanted him to become an architect, just like his father. However, his poor academic

achievements prevented Maurits to achieve this. He, then, became interested in

designs.

This is a tessellation made by the famous, M.C. Escher. A tessellation is a

picture that has no overlapping parts or any gaps.

I like this picture because it’s unique. I also like the fact that it has dogs. I

adore dogs very much and this dog seems very realistic. This tessellation is very

detailed because the dog has marks on its back making it look like its skinny. Also,

the dog has sharp teeth making it seem vicious.

Another reason I like this picture is because there are black and white dogs

facing in both directions. This idea is very brilliant and I think that it looks nice and

unique. I like this creative idea because it uses all parts of the picture, using all parts

of the picture. Using this method, M.C. Escher makes this image look more confusing

to create, yet he still did it.

This picture is complicated, yet simple. It is intricate because all the details

going into the positive and negative parts of this tessellation. This is simple because

it is showing only dogs, unlike all of the other M.C. Escher pictures.
