MIND MAPS
A mind map is an easy way to conceive thoughts naturally without worrying about order and
structure. It allows you to visually structure your ideas to help with recall and analysis. A mind
map is an effective way of getting information in and out of your brain. It is a creative and
logical means of note taking and note making that literally 'maps out' your ideas. A mind map
can turn a long list of boring information into a colorful, memorable and highly organized
diagram that works in line with your brain's natural way of doing things. Mind mapping is
perfect for writing essays, simplifying task and project management, outlining reports and
documents, running meeting for efficiently, presenting and communicating ideas. It’s a best way
to generate ideas because all mind maps have some things in common. They have a natural
organizational structure that radiates from the center and use lines, symbols, words, color and
images according to simple, brain friendly concepts. The mind map is a tool used to attract,
stimulate and challenge you. You will discover some surprising facts about your brain and its
function, and you will take the first major steps on the path to freedom of the mind. Mind
mapping converts a long list of unexcited information into a memorable and highly organized
diagram that works in line with your brain's natural way of doing things.

LISTS
Writers usually will place each individual point or idea on its own line, either on notebook paper
or in a word document. The ideas are meant to be unstructured and do not have to be listed in
any particular order but can be if that is helpful to you. You can generate new ideas by making
lists. Listing is very fluid and can be a continued process. You can keep adding to your list as
you continue through the writing process, or generate new lists that build on one another. You
can use individual words, phrases, or whole sentences. Listing can help generate subtopics.
These subtopics can expand or narrow your topic and also gives your ideas for more things.
Making lists helps you get your ideas out quickly on the page which can then allow you to focus
on other aspects of your paper or start to see relationships between the points you’ve written out.
Generating ideas through listing is to generate a list of new solutions or ideas to a difficult
problems or topics. When a problem or topic is more complicated than it generally appeared,
using idea listing is a different way to solve it. I prefer listing because it’s a quick way like write
the topic at the top of a piece of paper and quickly make a list of the words or phrases
coming into your mind. Through this activity you’d collect ideas to explain the topic you
have and will have new ideas too. Additionally, this technique is a way to narrow general topic
to a smaller one by listing every word or phrase coming into their mind.
