In order to apply for a letter of verification in relation to a certificate of good conduct from the
Hong Kong Police you will need:

- To send in your British passport or British National Overseas passport. Or a certified copy
of the photo information page.

Your local Post Office may be able to provide this service: www.postoffice.co.uk/document-
certificationservice. Alternatively, a solicitor or notary public can make a certified copy.

- A letter from your employer/university/school or adoption agency that gives details of why
you need to have the certificate of good conduct.

Once we have this information, we aim to issue the letter of verification within 20 working
days; you then will need to forward to the Hong Kong Police with your application.

On issuing the certificate of good conduct, the Hong Kong Police will return it to this office
and we will forward the certificate to you.

Please note that this can take up to 12 weeks. As this part of the process is the responsibility
of the Hong Kong authorities, we are unable to intervene.

You are also advised to contact the Hong Police for more information about additional
payment and extra documentation that may be required.

Their website is: www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/11_useful_info/cert_no_crime.html.

The fee for the letter of verification is £50.00, payable by postal order or banker’s draft made
out to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

We do not accept personal cheques.
