My name is Sophia Papaleo and am currently a junior here at Coral Springs
Charter. I am enrolled in the Cambridge program and a member of two clubs,
National Honors Society and HOSA. For three years I have been a student-athlete with our girls’ varsity soccer team, but next year I am deciding to focus more on my studies, club involvement, and job. I work as a cashier at an Italian restaurant in Parkland and have been working there for almost 2 years. My experience as a cashier has exposed me to the hospitality industry, but I am unaware of what career I would like to pursue as I have many options on my mind. The internship program can help me gain more experience in hospitality but also take on new roles in operations and prepare me for the decision I make in college that can set my future in motion. I am currently interested in entrepreneurship, nursing, hospitality, paramedics, or forensics. As you can tell I have many interests in mind and have been having a lot of trouble narrowing it down. The internship would help me do exactly that. The executive internship intrigues me because it is very different than any other course I can take in school. I feel this course really prepares me for the “real world” outside of high school, which seems to be right around the corner. I feel most classes, especially electives, don’t help me focus on my future. Hands-on experience is very important to me and I believe any exposure in a profession involving at least one of my interests would be incredible. I hope to be accepted into the program and be a member this unique program during my senior year next year.
