SEMI – DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 8

I. Objectives

1. Recognize the different functions of conditional sentences.


2. Value the importance of good decision making.
3. Construct sentences using conditionals through composition writing.

II. Subject – Matter: CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

a. Reference: Grade 8 – Learning Modules, pages 42-43


b. Materials: Chart, pictures and strip of papers

c. Value: Appreciation

III. Procedures

Preparation
 Prayer, greetings, and checking of attendance

Review
 The teacher will ask the students about the past lesson

A. ACTIVITY
 Group the students into three groups. The teacher prepares rolled strips of colored papers.
Instructions are given. The students are to follow whatever is indicated in the papers.
If you get a yellow strip of paper, you need to act/perform what is indicated in the
paper. If you get red paper, you can let someone perform/ act for you. If you receive
a blue one, you need to answer the question provided in the paper.

B. ANALYSIS
 Recall the instructions given by the teacher, then ask the following questions to the
learners:

1. What have you observed with the sentences?


2. What are some similarities among the sentences?
3. How do you express conditions?

 Ask the students to justify their answers.

V. Assignment

Have you had any plans that you were supposed to accomplish if not pandemic have
occurred? Or shortcomings which could have been avoided?

For your assignment, write a short composition on the importance of proper decision
making that focuses on your life’s plan or goals that have been affected by pandemic. Apply
your knowledge on the different types of conditional sentences.

CONDITIONAL SENTENCES – expresses conditions and its results


3 Types of Conditional Sentence:
1. Open Conditional Sentence – refers to a future event which is conditional on another
future event.
E.g. If you eat too much, you’ll get fatter.

2. Open Hypothetical Conditional Statement – refers to a possible future situation


which depends on another possible future situation.
E.g. If you ate too much, you would get fatter.

3. Unfulfilled Hypothesis – refers to a situation which an event might have taken place,
but did not, because a condition was not fulfilled.
E.g. If you had eaten too much, you would have got fatter.
