TRIPLE INTEGRALS

1
LEARNING OUTCOME

 In the preceding lectures we defined and discussed the properties

of double integrals for functions of two variables. In this lecture we
will define triple integrals for functions of three variables.

2
DEFINITION

 The triple integral of f ( x, y, z ) over a closed solid region G in an xyz-

coordinate system is

 f ( x, y, z)dV
G
FUBINI’S THEOREM

 If f ( x, y, z ) is a continuous function on the rectangular box G defined by

a  x  b, c  y  d , r  z  s, then
s d b r
 f ( x, y, z )dV =    f ( x, y, z)dxdydz
G r c a s

Note:
c d
The iterated integral on the right can be replaced with
any of the five other iterated integrals that result by a
altering the order of integration. b
