“Industrial Refrigeration Trainer”

Objective:

 To develop a low-cost Refrigeration Trainer.

 To understand the heat absorption process in evaporator and heat rejection process in
condenser.
 To demonstrate the maintenance of the refrigerator equipment.
 To monitor the force been charged.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Refrigeration has a large impact on industry, lifestyle, agriculture and settlement

patterns. refrigeration is a process of moving heat from one location to another in controlled
conditions. The work of heat transport is traditionally driven by mechanical work, but can also
be driven by heat, magnetism, electricity, laser, or other means. Refrigeration has many
applications, including but not limited to: household refrigerators, industrial freezers, and air
conditioning. Heat pumps may use the heat output of the refrigeration process and also may be
designed to be reversible, but are otherwise similar to air conditioning units. Conditions of
refrigerant and oil can be observed under various methods of operation.
This experiment demonstrates the principles of vapor compression refrigeration. The
vapor compression cycle is the dominant refrigeration technology, found in most refrigerators,
freezers, air-conditioning systems, and heat pumps.  In this cycle, cooling (heat acquisition) is
achieved with low-pressure evaporation of refrigerant. Thermal energy absorbed in evaporation
is rejected to the surroundings through high-pressure refrigerant condensation. Mechanical
work is applied in the compressor to raise the working fluid from low to high pressure.

Significance of the Study

The outcome of this study will be great benefit to the following:

Economics:

- Refrigeration is vital for reducing post-harvest and post-slaughtering losses and

in the preservation of food products.

Society:

- They keep food cold and they help prevent some people from getting sick. They
keep medicine cold, which is very important to many people. The electric
refrigerator replaced the 'icebox' as the way to keep food fresher longer.
Future Researchers:

- They can get ideas by reading this research.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

 This research focuses on demonstrating the maintenance of the refrigerator’s equipment.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Trainer- something (such as a machine or vehicle) used in training.

Evaporator- The evaporator is located inside a refrigerator and is the part that makes the items
in the refrigerator cold. As the refrigerant turns from a liquid into a gas through evaporation, it
cools the area around it, producing the proper environment for storing food.
Compressor- The compressor pushes out the hot, compressed gas through the outside metal
coils (tubes) on the back or bottom of the refrigerator. These coils allow the heat to dissipate
into the surrounding air.
