Problem 1 :-

For a dynamic compaction test, we are given: weight of hammer = 15 metric tons and
height of drop = 12 m. Determine the significant depth of influence for compaction in
both meters and feet.

Problem 2 :-

An embankment of 6 in thickness compacted layer is to be made. The soil dry unit weight
is 135 lb/ft3. The optimum moisture content is 11%. The moisture content at the borrow
area is found to be 6 %. The embankment width strip is 30 ft. For a 100 ft station, how
much water needs to be added for the embankment to be compacted properly?

Problem 3:-

A compactor of width7 ft. is to compact soil of thickness 5 in layer. After four passes at a
speed of 1.5 mph, the density required for compaction shall be achieved. If one bcy is
equivalent to 0.80 compacted cubic yards, what is the volume quantity that can be
completed in a day?
