LAB 9: WHAT IS VIRTUAL MACHINE?

A virtual machine (VM) is a software-based emulation of a computer that executes


programs like a physical machine. Virtual machines are separated into two major
classifications, based on their use and degree of correspondence to any real machine.
1- System Virtual Machine
2- Process Virtual Machine
System Virtual Machine: A system virtual machine provides a complete system
platform which supports the execution of a complete operating system (OS).
Process Virtual Machine: A process virtual machine (also, language virtual machine)
is designed to run a single program, which means that it supports a single process.
Software for creating virtual machine on your PC:
1- VM Ware
2- Virtual PC
3- DOSBox

Installation of VM Ware:
Steps you should follow to install VM Ware on your PC.
1) First you need a setup of VM Ware to install it on your PC, just double click on
the setup and it runs.

2) Click next to proceed to next step of installation.

3) VM Ware installing at default drive.

4) Enter license key to register your product to use and avail full features of product.

5) Your product is successfully installed and now ready to use.

LAB 10: HOW TO INSTALL WINDOWS SERVER 2008?


Tools Required:
1- VM Ware installed on your PC
2- Setup of Windows Server 2008

Practical:

1. First of all open VM Ware from start to run it.

2. Click on “Create new virtual machine”

3. Click Next to proceed further.

4. Click browse and select *.iso file of windows server 2008 from the storage.

5. Click Next button.

6. Enter product key of window server 2008. Its not compulsory you can skip it.

7. Give name of your virtual machine, Here default is given.

8. Allot hard disk space to virtual machine.

9. Here is the complete description.

10.Windows Server 2008 is booting.

LAB 15: INSTALLATION OF PACKET TRACER


Tool:
i. Laptop
ii. Setup of cisco packet tracer

Practical:
1. Double click on the setup or application file
2. Give administrator access or click on ‘yes’
3. Then a new window open i.e.

4. Click on next button then it demands the acceptance of agreement. Accept the
agreement i.e.

5. After accepting agreement click on next button then it demands the folder where
you want to install it i.e.

6. After this click on next button then it ask you if you want to put it another folder
i.e.

7. Click on next button then it demands that you select additional tasks like desktop
shortcut i.e.

8. Click on next button then it shows you information which you have given i.e.
folder name where you want to put it

9. Click on install button then it start installation

10. After installation complete click on finish button

11. After clicking finish button installation is complete and packet tracer window
will be open

12. Installation is complete and then we create different scenarios in it and it is


ready to work on it.
