Outcome-Based Assessment Guide:

*FOA = 5% per Quiz (x 3 Quizzes) + 5% per Exercise (x 3 Exercises) = 30%

FOA = Foundational Outcomes Assessment – (Quizzes and Exercises) are discrete demonstration of what the learners know
and understand about the important ideas or concepts in the topics discussed or covered. It is
important to ensure that the learners are equipped with the essential/fundamental knowledge
competency on the course topics. Such competency shall facilitate successful demonstration of
much higher levels of outcomes.

**MOA = 3.75% per Assignment - MRR (x 4 Assignments) + 15% Major Exam (3 Parts) = 30%
MOA = Mediating Outcomes Assessment – (Assignments - MRR and Major Exam) are transitional outcomes that bridge
foundational and ultimate outcomes of the course. These outcomes perform two important
functions: (1) Concretize learnings gained from each topic covered; these assessments act as
supplemental measures in addition to quizzes and exercises. (2) Prepare learners to the
succeeding topics.

***UOA = 10% Final Project Individual + 10% Final Exam + 20% Final Project Group = 40%
UOA = Ultimate Outcomes Assessment – (Final Projects: Individual and Group) are the culminating demonstrations of the
desired outcomes of the course. This outcomes assessment covers and integrates all the
learning elements in foundational and mediating outcomes. This fundamentally employs
authentic assessment requiring learners to perform or demonstrate (behavioral) tasks that
indicate successful acquisition of desired learning outcomes.
Final Grades Computation:

FOA (30%) + MOA (30%) + UOA (40%) = 100%

Because of the CAN PASS-CANNOT FAIL policy in force on a Digital Term, the final grades will correspond to the
weighted average scores shown below (Mapua Grade Schema for Digital Term in Blackboard):

a. Attendance
According to CHED policy, total number of absences by the students should not be more than 20% of the
total number of meetings or 9 hrs. for a three-unit-course. Students incurring more than 9 hours of
unexcused absences automatically gets a failing grade regardless of class standing. Mapua policy for an
