Introductory Computing – CPT107

Trimester 2, 2021

Assessment 1 – MS PowerPoint Presentation Week 4 15%

Your presentation should include the following slides:

 Title slide – including title, author, unit code and unit name.
 Introduction – introduce yourself, where you currently are (and where you’re from), what you
are studying, etc
 Several content slides - describe the main computing device you use for college and its
significant components and peripherals (input, processing, output, storage, etc), include their
main features/function /advantages.
 Conclusion – a brief overview of why you find this device suitable for your everyday college
needs.
Your presentation should also use the following PowerPoint features to create an effective electronic
presentation:

 Themes (customised variations or unique) effective use and placement and quantity of images
and text effective use of animation and slide transition narration

In PPT, the content on the slides should be in phrases, bullet points, quotes (with in-text referencing) or
words – NOT paragraphs! When narrating, use presentation notes to refer to and still “present”, because it
will sound better than reading (and yes, the difference is noticeable). Also remember, there is a file upload
limit of 20mb which is a lot, but remember to use small or medium image file sizes (this is the file size, not
how big the image appears on the PPT slide).

Presentation time
The presentation should be about 4-5 minutes in length
Marking
This Presentation Assignment will be marked as per the marking rubric below. Marks are awarded for
effective use of features to create a neat and effective PPT presentation. Marks are also awarded for the
content, and for this you will need to show understanding in your narration and presentation.

Submission
The completed MS PowerPoint presentation file needs to be submitted (uploaded) to Moodle before
presentations begin on the due date.
There is an upload file size limit of 20MB. If your file won’t upload because it is too large, you need to fix it.
Remember to check that your file has been submitted successfully. If you have uploaded the incorrect file,
you can delete it and upload another. You can do this by clicking on Edit Submission, the select the file you
want to remove, click on delete, then upload another file.
Your file should be uploaded to the relevant MS PowerPoint Presentation submission link under
Assessment Submission Links in Moodle.
