III. Procedure
A. Engagement
Students will be asked by the following questions.
What happens when you eat?
What will happen to your digestive system if one part of it is not working properly?
Explain.
B. Exploration
The students will watch a video clip titled, Journey of the Digestive System. They will also
answer the following questions:
1. What does the movie clip say about the digestion of food?
2. What changes happened to the food as it was moved through the digestive tract?
C. Explanation
Guide questions:
1. How do enzymes help in digesting the food you eat?
2. How would you compare and contrast mechanical and chemical digestions?
3. What is the role of the small intestine in the digestive system?
4. How would you describe the pathways of absorption and the assimilation of
carbohydrates, protiens, lipids, water, vitamins, and minerals?
D. Elaboration
The students will illustrate the pathways of nutrient absorption using arrow marking on a
sheet of bond paper. They will also write the what each arrow demotes.
IV. Evaluation
Directions: With the help of the illustration, identify the enzymes found in the following parts of
our digestive system.
True or False
6. The main function of the bile is to break down proteins.
