Current trends in the employment process

The situation with the coronavirus has had a significant impact on the labor market this year. For
example, in the spring the number of vacancies fell, people stopped looking for work so as not to go to
interviews, and the popularity of searches for remote work and work from home jumped.

But now, according to experts, despite the complexity of 2020, it was not accompanied by any radical
changes in the labor market. The leaders in terms of the number of vacancies were all the same
industries as before, and the most difficult thing was to find work for students and people without
experience.

Analysts have identified several broad trends for the recruiting industry, driven by the COVId-19
pandemic. First of all, this is the transition to a remote work format. In addition, job seekers have
become more interested in part-time options. In the context of the pandemic, in 2020 compared to
2019, the number of search queries increased in the following areas: part-time work with daily pay,
part-time work at home, remote work. The second trend - more active publication of vacancies on
social networks (Facebook) and Telegram channels, business communications in messengers and the
growing popularity of the short video resume format.

Also, based on the results of the outgoing year, there is a trend towards a hybrid work schedule, when
applicants are ready to choose more than one format (only remotely or permanently in the office), but
also, if there is an opportunity to combine several. For example, leave 3 days for work on the
employer's territory, and 2 working days at home.

The coronavirus epidemic has reshaped the labor market around the world. The forced experiment on
the transition to remote work both opened up new opportunities for companies and employees and
made them face a number of difficulties.

Although it was forced, the business has rethought a new format of work. First of all, I appreciated the
cost savings when transferring employees to a remote location. The lack of spending on office rent and
other operating costs has become a clear advantage for many.

But not only business noted a number of positive aspects. Many surveys have been conducted around
the world, and most often respondents noted that teleworking helped:

 be more productive during the working day;

 save money;
 devote more time to your personal life.

Despite a number of advantages, many companies were not ready to develop their business remotely.
The pandemic revealed problems that were not visible. Among such problems:

 weak governance;
 inability to clearly set tasks and manage employees' time;
 bad feedback;
 lack of control and regulations;

To address these challenges, it is important for companies to focus on promoting personal effectiveness,
measurable results, clear and transparent goal setting and time management.

According to my point of view the changes that have stirred up the labor market will be long-term. And
companies that have accepted the rules of the game and are ready to adapt to new conditions will come
to the fore.
