outcomes are not encouraging. The public perception on the research outcomes also not
encouraging

to address the quality of research output
7. The New Knowledge created through PhDs need to be transformed into innovation
which in turn to culminate as useful products for the mankind

research by following ways
a. Conducting Annual Research Conferences state wise and region wise
b. Introducing a multidisciplinary research journal
c. Awards to Best Performing Researchers and Professor
d. Awards to Best PhD Theses

2. Pursuit of doctoral programmes needs a thirst to do research not for professional or

3. Recently a Parliamentary Committee recommended following points about research
a. Reorientation of entire evaluation process of PhD Programme
b. Increase the research infrastructure
c. Enhance the number and amount of fellowships
4. Various Policies and Committees have recommended fruitful reforms but
implementation needs to be critically reviewed
5. Educational Leaders like Vice Chancellors holds much responsibility in implementing
required reforms
6. We should not compromise on quality of PhD programme
7. Identified concerns and suggestions are
a. Recognition of Research Supervisors- Need to be stringent with measures like
entrance examinations for Supervisors
b. Title of PhD Thesis; Topics for Research- Need to avoid routine and stereotype
issues; Reinvent new model to find suitable and sustainable solutions for larger issues
c. Funding Support to Researcher- for both PhD scholars and PhD supervisors need to
supported monetarily

research credits

1. Discussed the statistics related to research in India and compared globally.
2. More emphasis should be on quality publications.
3. Compare India and US. We contribute only 5 % in research publication, whereas US
is contributing 17 %.
4. NEP for improving research.
5. Research is the domain area of PG and entered in Ph.D. As per NEP research should
be from UG, so 4 year is introduced, where 1 year is entirely devoted to research.
6. Spending on research should be increased substantially.
7. We should conduct research have social relevance and community should be
benefitted at large.

10. National Research Foundation to promote quality research. A huge funding is
required.
11. Academic freedom. Freedom to teach, research etc. There should not be any heavy

14. Collaboration with industry for quality research.
15. Values and ethics in research. Avoid plagiarism, donot publish in paid journals etc.
