Travel Writing

We were going to Paris and the whole family was looking forward to the escape from home. We
chose Paris, because our family friends experienced an amazing holiday last summer. The journey to
Paris was pretty long, due to the stops we had to make during the flight. Our first stop was in
Ethiopia, which wasn’t the worst delay we had to endure, compared to the delay in Dubai. The delay
lasted for at least half a day, but felt like two.
The heat in Dubai that day was absolutely unbearable, I had no idea how the locals could live in this
warmth. Walking into the airport, my clothes stuck to me like a second skin and the air was nothing
but moist. After a few calls to the traveling agency, we were finally able to get a hotel room at the
last minute, but the room they had for us was unexpectedly disappointing.
One thing that had really gotten to me, was the fact that the air conditioners didn’t work, and in
Dubai’s heat? The time finally came to continue our transition. I was so relieved that we were
leaving Dubai, with its ridiculous heat and travel agency’s bad service.
After a few hours of flying we finally arrived at our third stop and seventy miles ahead was our
destination. Paris Airport. As soon as we got down from the plane, everyone in my family sighed a
breath of relief and asked each other if the atmosphere felt different or it was just them. I looked up
at the Paris sky and it was filled with clouds like purple candy floss.
When we arrived in the town, everyone felt so friendly and welcoming. The buildings in France all
had an old-fashioned charm, complemented by the weathered paint that adorned them. The art
wasn’t just in the towns but was also felt underground, tunnels decorated with graffiti.
The town was truly filled with antiquated buildings that had amusing architectural designs, that I
personally had the chance to see.
There was no place like Paris, it could have been similar to Italy in some ways but the French people
were like from another world.
