“Research is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought.

” – Albert
Szent-Gyorgyi

What would the modern world look like without the different researches?

First and foremost, without research there’s no way you can read this electronically made
output, as technological devices were pioneered and developed through loads of exhaustive research.
Without research, we’d be defenseless to the brutal forces of nature. For instance, without
meteorology, we won’t be able to predict the path of storms, hurricanes and tornadoes. Lack of
volcanology research would leave the world at risk to the destruction of volcanic eruptions. And medical
technology and discovery would be non-existent, which would have wiped out one out of every nine
people if not researched and found a cure. As human beings we have always asked ourselves questions,
about the phenomena we observe on a daily basis. When curiosity and instinct are applied in different
approach to find the answers to questions like these, and draw on experience on the knowledge we
have already acquired, then we’re doing research. Dedicating our lives to research means making study
and experiment on our profession, and will lead these activities to the acquisition of new knowledge.

There are two main types of research: qualitative research and quantitative research. Both have
importance to the different fields, may it be science, technology, and on various sectors. Quantitative
research uses expressions like numerical forms, denotes a number or symbol to express how many, how
much or what rank things are or have in this world. Expressing meaning through numerals or a set of
symbols indicates specificity, particularity, or exactness of something. Quantitative research is not only
characterized by precision, specificity, or stability, but also geared toward a possible result, qualitative
research is described as expansive, widespread and developing and it is focused more on processes
rather than on outcomes. The use of quantitative research lies greatly in the production of results, it is
precise and factual. With the use of quantitative research, doctors will have the most effective and
developed medicines to treat their patients for all sorts of ailments, more data can save hundreds of
lives in the future. Engineers will gestate freeways, hospitals, schools, and tall buildings that will meet
the societal and consumer needs. Not only that, with the application of quantitative methods, models
and adequate algorhythms, the more complex phenomena and processes in economics, it can be
studied more efficiently and more precisely, in order to reach decisions and predicts movements of
economic phenomena and processes. As time goes, quantitative research will slowly pave the society’s
blemish.

As the cliché saying goes, “The only constant thing in this world is change.” - Heraclitus. The
world gradually takes its evolution, and so is the people. We become more thirsty of discoveries. People
will dig and find out the reason behind the smallest matter in front of them, and that alone can start a
big change in the flow. Research is important in every field as it helps society to grow up. Some of the
common aims are to reduce the number of people who become ill, build quality assured infrastractures,
discover new inventions, and lastly, to make life easier. Until change constantly occurs, there will always
be room for development, and as long as we keep the desire to know every detail and kill our curiosity,
we’ll advance in a society that no one will ever imagine.
