Background:
Densi hails from a family of 3 members. She is a single child. Her father holds a job and her
mother is a house wife. During her free time, Densi likes to play with her friends, read books,
and also listen to music.
Hands on approach can penetrate more to the students:
Densi is a very energetic student and always ready to ask questions to her teachers if she does
not understand any topic. She consults her regular class teacher or Agastya instructor, when
in doubt. But, if she still does not understand the concept, she tries and read the book again or
search Google about it. Densi always faces a problem that she does not understand the
concept thoroughly only through theoretical knowledge. And she says that with Agastya’s
intervention, she can now understand the topics very clearly with the activities and practical
examples. She says this hands on approach is the best approach and to be implemented in
every school.
One more thing that Densi notices is that with the group approach, the knowledge sharing
approach works very well. When the experiments or activities are done in a group, there
would so many new thoughts from all the group members and it helps the student to learn
from different angles. With the same mindset, Densi says she shares any new learning she has
with all the classmates.
She says science as an application is a very interesting feature and after applying science in
day to day life, her thought process has been changed a lot. This is also helping her to think
new every day. One topic that she says she enjoyed a lot is the separation technique.
Separating oils and waters and separating other materials from a raw material is a very
helpful and tough concept but was made clear with the experiments. Interesting day to day
concepts like how a bulb operates, what is a series connection, what is a parallel connection
are made clear to her during the sessions.
Densi also enjoyed in the summer camp. She says learning via activities and fun games was
very interesting to her. Making flower coat from waste, painting were some of the favourite
activities she remembers. She also presented a wind mill model in the summer camp. She
says she wants to work on the better version of that windmill.
When asked about the lockdown, Densi told that the lockdown started in March because of
Covid 19. During the lockdown, to continue the learning streak, Agastya started online camp,
and it was a very helpful initiation. With the help of ELP classes, she learnt to do low cost
science models with easily available house supplies.
Aspiration:
When she grows up, Densi wants to become a scientist. She says scientists are the founders of
innovative models and they help the society to live a better life. She says Agastya is giving
her a hands on approach to the subject that she wants to excel in and it is very helpful for her
to achieve her dream.
