5. ACCOMODATION: The College is a mixed Day and Boarding Institution. Boarding facilities at
the college surrounding are offered on first come first serve basis to those who choose to be boarding
students. Trainees interested to be boarders are required to pay KS. 4,500 per term after confirming
availability.

NOTE: Confirm hostel allocation prior to depositing boarding fees into College Account. Other
alternative private developers offer opportunities for accommodation which do exist around the college.

6. CHANGE OF COURSE

Students admitted have 28 (twenty eight) days from the commencement date of the programme to
apply for change of course through the Office of Registrar.

7. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

7.2. BOARDING STUDENTS

8. MEALS:
Meals will be offered in the institute on Cafeteria System using “Pay As You Eat”. Students are
advised to have enough money to cater for their meals. See attached menu.
9. COLLEGE LOCATION: [BEHIND NGONG HILLS]
Kajiado West Technical and Vocational College is located in Kajiado West Sub-County in Kajiado
County. The college is situated along Kimuka-Kisamis Road, 8 km from Kisamis & 5 km from
Kimuka. It can be approached from Ngong Town to Kimuka or from Kiserian to Kisamis up to
OLOSHO-OIBOR Centre. (54 km from Nairobi through Ngong Hills town!!!)

RULES AND REGULATIONS


NOTE: AS A TRAINEE YOU ARE EXPECTED TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THE RULES AND REGULATIONS THAT
GOVERN YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE WHILE AT THE COLLEGE AND APPEND YOUR SIGNATURE AS WITNESSED BY
YOUR PARENT/SPONSOR/GUARDIAN BEFORE OR ON THE DAY ADMISSION.

1.0 PREAMBLE
1.1 Common Sense remains the whole mark of guidance in human life and enough of it makes us genius.
1.2 The rules and regulations are meant to create an environment in which trainees focus on their studies to realize
success.
1.3 Equally, the rules and regulations are meant to help us keep off activities and practices that would jeopardize peace
and disrupt programmed college activities.
1.4 These rules and regulations are in line with TVET Act 2013, the bill of rights and other relevant sections of the
Kenyan laws. Binding College policies in place form part of these rules and regulations.
1.5 All trainees must abide by the rules and regulations whenever they are officially registered and are within the
jurisdiction of the college.

2.0 LECTURES
Attendance of classes is compulsory. Each trainee is expected to follow lecture timetable and to honour venues as
indicated. No venues shall be owned by specific classes/courses for lecture purposes

3.0 EXITS

3.1 During class time, trainees are NOT expected to leave the College Compound unless given a valid exit chit by the
Lecturer on Duty or Head of Department or the office of the Dean of Students or any other authorized officer.

3.2 Absence from the College must be on permission obtained from the office of the Dean of Students or Registrar or
Deputy Principal or Principal.
3.3 Boarders leaving college premises during non-working days/hours are required to register with the college security
in writing and relay the same information through sms/email to the Dean of Students or Registrar or Deputy Principal or
Principal

4.0 COLLEGE ROUTINE

4.1 Trainees must observe time for Meals, Classes and Scheduled Activities/Events.
4.2 Resident trainees should be in the college premises (college compound or designated hostels) not later than 8:00 pm.

5.0 RESTRICTED AREAS

5.1 Some areas are out of bounds for trainees. These include the staffroom, typing poll, kitchen and residential areas for
trainers and non-trainers staff.

5.2 Men and women hostels Rule of 10:00 pm to 10:00 am applies: Men’s hostels are out of bound for women trainees
as from 10:00 pm up to 10:00 am and vice versa.

6.0 CONDUCT

6.1 Use of indecent language, disorderly conduct and fighting are prohibited.
6.2 Trainees are expected to conduct themselves maturely and show respect to ALL i.e. to fellow students, staff and
college employees. We would like to live as a DECENT family.

7.0 MEALS
7.1 Meals are served on a cafeteria service basis.
7.2 A valid payment confirmation via college bank paybill number must be presented before one is served with meals.
CASH PAYMENT IS PROHIBITED.
7.3 Kitchen utensils must not be taken to the hostels.
7.4 Cooking in the hostels are strictly prohibited.
7.5 The College shall strive toprovide varieties of meals according to EACH day’s menu.

8.0 WORSHIP
Trainees will be expected to respect the others’ freedom of worship. However, where religious beliefs and practices are
in conflict with the College rules, the latter shall prevail.

9.0 RESPONSIBILITY.
Trainees are encouraged to show a high sense of responsibility and guard against damage or loss of Institutional
property at their disposal.
The same sense of responsibility should apply with regard to other trainees’ property or personal effects

10.0 DRUGS AND MEDICATION


10.1 Possession, handling and use of hard drugs are prohibited. In any case it is criminal according to the laws of this
Country.
10.2 Smoking is prohibited in the College.
10.3 Possession, handling or consumption of alcoholic drinks is strictly prohibited.
10.4 The college shall recommend for further medication for individuals with signs of addiction to drugs at the
Rehabilitation Centers
10.5 The College shall provide first aid treatment only. If need be, facilitate the movement of the sick to Olosho-oibor
Dispensary and for any referral to the nearest public hospital

11.0 DISCIPLIN PLAN


11.1 The College promotes the cardinal roles of the Department of Guidance and Counselling in shaping the behaviours
of the trainees. Deviant behaviours exhibited by registered trainees shall be handled professionally and
documented. Same information shall be communicated to the trainee’s parent/sponsor/guardian whenever
necessary.
11.2 Serious offences such as fighting, theft, being drunk and disorderly will lead to Automatic Suspension.
11.3 If a trainee has been suspended more than once he/she may be recommended for expulsion.
11.4 Criminal offences e.g. handling of hard drugs shall land the offender in the hands of the police.
11.5 Trainees who do not adhere to certain rules may be denied boarding status/to vie for leadership positon or being
demoted.
11.6 Chronic absenteeism e.g. lasting two weeks will lead to Suspension/discontinuation of the course/repeating the
semester..
11.7 Loss or damage of the college property shall be replaced by the offender.
